In the quiet mountain town of Whitefish, Montana, something remarkable is brewing—or rather, fermenting. From September 8–14, 2025, the second annual Whitefish Food & Wine Festival will once again transform this outdoor haven into a culinary destination, attracting food lovers, wine aficionados, and world-class chefs from across the country.
Launched in 2024 by 4x James Beard Award-winning Chef Todd English, entrepreneur Joe Hess, and entertainment producer Ryan Heil, the festival was an instant hit. Now, it’s back and bigger, blending Montana’s rustic charm with world-class gastronomy in a way few events manage.
The venue, Haskill Creek Farms, offers panoramic views of the Flathead Valley and acts as the perfect canvas for this flavor-forward experience. Guests can expect a full week of activity—from high-end wine pairing dinners to adventurous food and wine excursions, live chef showdowns, and Grand Tastings with over 100 different wines.
“The goal has always been to connect people—to each other, to this land, and to the food and drink that bring us together,” says Todd English. “In 2025, we’re raising the bar and leaning into the setting that makes Whitefish truly one of a kind.”
A standout element of the festival is the Grand Tasting Live Stage, a fully built kitchen inside the main tasting tent that hosts live chef demos, cooking competitions, and culinary masterclasses. This setup not only entertains, but educates—giving attendees the chance to see culinary icons in action and learn from their techniques and stories.
Complementing the action on stage is the bounty of 100+ wines, spirits, and craft beers available for tasting. Each sip is paired with food from top local restaurants, and interactive sponsor activations are woven throughout the venue for a truly immersive experience.
But Whitefish Food & Wine is more than just a tasting event—it’s a celebration of place. Attendees can sign up for nature-forward excursions like “Sip & SUP” paddleboarding on crystal-clear lakes, guided hikes followed by wine and cheese picnics, and one-of-a-kind dinners under the stars. One such experience, the “Farm to Foraged to Table” event, is led by Veritas Chef Michael Tolomeo and brings together wild-foraged ingredients, local wines, and communal dining in a stunning natural setting.
If the day’s adventures work up an appetite, festivalgoers can book exclusive wine pairing dinners at some of Whitefish’s finest restaurants. These dinners will feature collaborations between local chefs and guest culinary stars, who co-create bespoke menus that highlight seasonal Montana ingredients and globally inspired techniques. For those looking to taste something truly rare, these dinners promise once-in-a-lifetime meals in intimate settings.
The festival also continues its tradition of community support, with two charitable beneficiaries to be announced. Last year’s proceeds helped fund local food security and youth education programs—an impact the co-founders intend to build on this September.
“Whitefish isn’t just a backdrop—it’s the soul of the festival,” says Ryan Heil. “Everything we do is meant to honor the people, the ingredients, and the culture of this remarkable corner of Montana.”
For travelers, the festival is the perfect excuse to extend a trip into Glacier National Park or explore the Flathead Valley’s growing reputation as a wine and food destination. Boutique hotels, mountain lodges, and stylish vacation rentals offer options for every type of visitor—from luxury travelers to outdoorsy adventurers.
With just over a month to go, tickets are already on sale, and interest is building quickly. Last year’s event sold out, and with this year’s enhanced lineup, the same is expected. Whether you’re a sommelier, a seasoned festivalgoer, or simply someone with a passion for food and nature, Whitefish Food & Wine promises a week of unforgettable experiences.
With breathtaking landscapes, masterful cuisine, and immersive programming, Whitefish Food & Wine isn’t just a festival—it’s a taste of Montana’s finest.
