Rooms & Suites: 84

A warm and exclusive sanctuary, Aman Tokyo luxury resort and spa draws its design inspiration from traditional Japanese residential structures.

Classic Japanese materials such as timber, Washi paper and stone are blended to great effect with modern technology and luxurious fabrics. Filtered light contrasts with solid elements, creating a subtle interplay of shadow and light fundamental to the design and ambience of the hotel. The boundaries between each space are broken down, providing a fluid transition from one area to the next. There is also a continuous reference to nature, from the Otemachi Forest (a forested area of 3,600 square metres in the city) and the hotel's inner garden, to the fabrics and art incorporated into the design. The inner garden is surrounded by a veranda or engawa, which leads to the dining and lounge areas. This term traditionally refers to a wooden space between the garden and living areas in traditional homes, and the concept has been incorporated into Aman Tokyo guest rooms and suites, separating the sleeping areas from living spaces.
