This luxurious ryokan opened for business in 1818 and it is one of the finest ryokans in Kyoto.
It is currently operated by 6 generation proprietors. This two-storey wooden ryokan has 33 beautifully decorated Japanese-style rooms. Some (but not all) of the guest rooms at Hiiragiya Ryokan have their own private bath and toilet. From many of the rooms, guests can enjoy the view of Hiiiragiya Ryokan's Japanese garden.
