ESPACIO The Jewel of Waikiki Reopening June 1

ESPACIO The Jewel of Waikiki, Hawaii’s pinnacle of luxury, design and hospitality, will reopen June 1, 2021. Offering nine 2,250-square-foot multi-bedroom suites – each occupying an individual floor – ESPACIO features rare amenities, ultra-personalized service and privacy anchored by elevated safety standards in the heart of world-renowned Waikiki Beach.

Guests of the ultra-exclusive hotel will enjoy preferred reservations at Mugen, the acclaimed Japanese-French tasting concept. Mugen also reopens June 1 with intimate new courtyard seating, a private dining room, and a fresh seasonal menu.

Each three-bedroom, three-and-a-half-bathroom ESPACIO suite features an expansive ocean-view balcony equipped with a Jacuzzi, a private dry sauna, spa-like bathrooms supplied with BVLGARI products, and a designer kitchen stocked with a customized selection of snacks and beverages upon arrival. To ensure the privacy of guests, each suite is equipped with personal elevator entry.

In celebration of its reopening, ESPACIO invites guests to see beyond the ordinary with a special “Discover ESPACIO” package that will include a limited edition commemorative gift (valued at $250), daily spa and dining credits (valued at $250), round-trip luxury airport transportation (valued at $300), two bottles of wine personally selected by Mugen’s sommelier, complimentary admission for two to the Bishop Museum and Honolulu Museum of Art, daily continental breakfast, complimentary access to luxury vehicles, and a $50 wine card to be used at the hotel’s onsite tasting station. The package is available now until June 1, for dates of stay through December 9, 2021. An added perk, there is no minimum length of stay requirement, and ESPACIO’s flexible reservations policy allows for changes or cancellation up to seven days before arrival.

Next Level Clean

ESPACIO fully integrated Aqua-Aston Hospitality’s Next Level Clean program, which builds upon the award-winning Honolulu-based hotel management company’s high standard of cleaning and disinfection to ensure guests and associates are cared for from check-in to check-out. Wellness enhancements unique to ESPACIO include the outfitting of all suites and common areas with air filtration ventilation systems to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and the installation of a thermal scanning system at the hotel’s entry.

Elevated Dining at Mugen

Also reopening June 1, ESPACIO’s jewel box Japanese-French culinary concept features inventive tasting menus prepared by Chef Jason Yamaguchi featuring the finest globally sourced ingredients. The eight-course tasting menu features artfully plated dishes that will change according to the season and the availability of rare and sought-after ingredients. A sampling of some of Mugen’s most popular dishes include Sasanian osetra caviar served on a mochi blini with cured egg yolk, Kona kanpachi in watermelon consomme, Chateau Uenae A5 accompanied by summer truffle jus, and Tarte Sablée à La Fraise with chantilly cream and honeycomb.

Rare items Mugen intends to procure from the renowned Toyosu Market in Japan include live kegani (Hokkaido Horsehair crab) and kinmedai (Golden Eye snapper). Local fruits, vegetables and herbs are grown exclusively for Mugen by Yogarden Hawaii and include Queen Sophia edible flowers, flash collards, Fairy Tale eggplant, Hush cherry (Poha berry) and Nero Tondo radish. Acclaimed Oahu chocolatier Manoa Chocolate’s Mililani 70% dark chocolate will serve as a decadent base for an evolving selection of sweets prepared by Mugen’s in-house pastry chef.

The award-winning tasting concept also offers discerning palates an expertly cultivated beverage program that draws from a 500-bottle wine collection. The collection also includes rare Japanese whiskies and liquors including Macallan Rare Cask Black and Appleton Estate 50 Year Old Jamaica Rum, the latter of which is valued at $6,000 and limited to 800 bottles worldwide.

Upon its reopening, Mugen will debut a new courtyard alongside its intimate dining room, and can accommodate up to 16 guests per seating at 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively. Tasting experiences start at $150 per person, and wine pairings start at $70 per person. The space may also be reserved for private events with buyouts starting at $10,000.

New and Returning Amenities

Upon its reopening, ESPACIO’s signature collection of coveted amenities will be offered alongside two new amenities.

In its most recent partnership, ESPACIO will offer guests unrivaled access to Iolani Palace, the historic home of Hawaii’s last reigning monarchs. The exclusive white-glove tour immerses guests in Hawaii’s royal heritage with behind-the-stanchions access to collections previously closed to the public. Guests are encouraged to inquire about ordering a chef-prepared picnic to enjoy on the palace lawn.

Timed with the enactment of Hawaii’s ban on the sale of reef-damaging sunscreens in January 2021 – a legislative effort achieved in part by Aqua-Aston Hospitality’s efforts – ESPACIO now offers guests complimentary use of Shiseido’s newly introduced ocean-friendly sunscreens. ESPACIO is the first hotel in the U.S. to offer the Japanese beauty brand’s new Hawaii-compliant formulas to its guests.

Returning amenities include the hotel’s esteemed white-glove butler service, which offers guests an array of customized experiences. Examples include private surf lessons, personal chef-prepared dinners on the hotel’s elegant rooftop infinity pool deck and contactless personal styling in partnership with Neiman Marcus Ala Moana.
