FRED SEGAL Opens Newest Location in Yokohama, Japan
This also marks the second international location for the retailer. With a floor space twice the size of Fred Segal's Daikanyama location, which opened last spring, the new flagship store for men's and women's apparel and lifestyle goods will further expand the Fred Segal name in Japan.

Fred Segal was established in Los Angeles in 1961, and has since become synonymous with “the best of Southern California laid-back luxury.” To that end, the newly opened Tokyo store offers a cool and relaxing atmosphere. Comprised of two freestanding buildings connected by a bridge, the mountainside building ground floor houses lifestyle and sport-casual merchandise, along with distinct beauty, optical and jewelry areas.

At more than double the size of our original Fred Segal location in Daikanyama, which opened its doors last spring, this new flagship lifestyle center will further expand Fred Segal's brand presence in Japan and reflects the same sense of California laid-back luxury. The design of Yokohama is reminiscent of Daikanyama in materials and fixturing, but features a much more robust visual language, with both branded elements and art installations.

A total of four floors make up the new location, with over 17,500 sq. ft. of space for customers to experience fashion, food, drink and athletics from the Fred Segal perspective. The Seaside building is home to an expanded version of The Mart, Fred Segal's proprietary specialty market and fast-casual food concept that debuted in Daikanyama. The Mart Yokohama features three new food concepts – The Mart Ice Cream by Handels Vagen (premium handmade ice cream), Salud Fred (a collaboration with a local Tokyo restaurant that focuses on fresh, local made food) and Aloha Amigo (a Hawaiian-Mexican mashup), in addition to Camden's Blue Star Donuts from The Mart Daikanyama.

The second floor of the Seaside building is a brand-new concept called Surf Village. Created by two lifelong surfers, the Surf Village aims to consolidate surf culture, knowledge and product into one space. Customers can shop for custom surfboards, sign up for lessons, purchase both surf gear and surf-inspired product and learn from the rotating cast of pro surfers that are on hand. The additional floors of both buildings will house Fred Segal Originals, as well as apparel, beauty products, eyewear, pet goods, children's wear, sneakers, a “Green Shop” and a Denim Bar – paying homage to Fred Segal's beginnings.
