Eleven Experience, known for its pairing of world-class lodging with top-tier, tailor-made travel experiences, is launching its first wellness program this month at Deplar Farm in northern Iceland. Eleven Life is a year-round personalized program for guests who seek a challenging, innovative approach to achieving their health and wellness goals.
More than a holistic spa break, Eleven Life pushes guests to test their limits by combining a thrilling menu of outdoor adventures with physical and mental tasks alongside key lifestyle practices such as yoga and mental resilience. Each guest receives a consultation and personalized plan that incorporates Eleven Life’s key elements: movement, marginal gains, spa therapies, outdoor adventure, nutrition and fitness.
From relaxing yoga-flows to functional fitness routines, guests are encouraged to find their own daily rhythm in the fitness studio and fully equipped gym. Eleven Life’s expert instructors will work with each guest, teaching them how to maximise their limited workout time and inspire good exercise habits.
Central to Eleven Life is the concept of marginal gains, the principle that by making a series of small incremental lifestyle adjustments, guests can significantly improve overall health. Guests will be presented with 11 customized gains to take away and incorporate into their daily routine to enhance sleep, mental capacity, nutrition, fitness levels and also help them manage stress and weight issues. Eleven’s experts also advise guests how they can successfully incorporate these changes into their life through simple practices such as ‘habit-stacking’, where guests are encouraged to implement new habits to existing routines.
Eleven Life will offer guests a carefully curated menu of spa treatments, tailored specifically to aid the wellbeing of each guest and their problem areas. The menu includes the Viking Sauna, which is an experience that combines drumming, breathing techniques, and hot and cold plunges to stimulate both the mind and body. Organic facials and massages are designed to support skin in extreme temperatures. The Viking Float is a sensory deprivation therapy used by top athletes to develop a winning mindset. A soothing evening gong paired with breathing technique sessions are also available to help to reduce stress and aid sleep.
Guests are invited to take advantage of the fresh air by focusing on breathwork while taking daily wilderness walks and sea-kayaking excursions in the summer. To appreciate the serenity of the region, outdoor activities include periods of silence to encourage a deeper sensory connection to nature. Come winter, guests can embark on challenging cross-country skiing or adrenaline-pumping snow-mobile rides. Taking advantage of Deplar’s stillness and lack of light pollution, guests will embark on sensory-deprivation night walks, where they’ll explore the region without artificial light under the glow of the northern lights.
Executive Chef Garðar Kári Garðarsson, winner of Iceland’s Top Chef award in 2018, has carefully designed a wellness menu, balancing all of the key food groups to yield maximum health benefits and ensure guests are kept satisfied and energized throughout their stay. From fiery ginger shots, and cod liver oil for breakfast, to a late-night cup of mountain moss tea, guests will be sure to leave with the inspiration to continue on the path of healthy living.
Rates for Eleven Life begin at $3,073 per room per night based on double occupancy, and includes an in-depth consultation and personalized wellness program, guide services, all gear necessary for activities, pre-arrival planning, daily housekeeping, all meals, organic fresh food minibar, house alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and round-trip transfers to Akureyri Airport.
