Niko Al Fresco: Ibiza's Hottest New Dining Destination for Summer Nights

This summer, Cala Llonga’s favorite destination Mondrian Ibiza, unveils the latest chapter in its ever-evolving culinary journey with the launch of NIKO Al Fresco, an elevated open-air dining experience that brings contemporary Japanese cuisine to life in one of the island’s most breathtaking settings, open exclusively from Wednesday to Sunday.

Nestled high above the glittering shores of Cala Llonga Bay, NIKO Al Fresco is perched on the hotel’s iconic Sun & Moon Terrace, where expansive views of the turquoise Mediterranean stretch into the horizon and golden-hour light creates a distinctive atmosphere for all guests.

The all-new immersive concept offers exceptional ingredients, traditional Japanese techniques, and artful presentation in a space that’s both serene and sensorially rich. The terrace effortlessly shifts from tranquil daytime retreat to an ambient evening setting with starlit skies and curated soundscapes, operating from midweek through the weekend. Whether sipping sake at sunset or savouring an atmospheric dinner under the stars, NIKO Al Fresco offers a variety of dining options tailored to each visit. The space exudes quiet sophistication, the perfect blend of Japanese minimalism and Mediterranean warmth, where clean lines, natural materials, and gentle lighting evoke a sense of refined tranquillity.

This year, the modern Japanese restaurant introduces its signature omakase experience, a captivating chef-led tasting journey where diners relinquish control and entrust the evening to the culinary imagination of the chef. Meaning “I’ll leave it up to you” in Japanese, omakase invites guests to enjoy a bespoke progression of courses, expertly curated based on the day’s freshest ingredients and the chef’s artistic vision. Each plate is unique as the next, from delicate sashimi compositions to inventive seasonal creations, offering an immersive dining ritual unlike any other.

Menu highlights include the Soft-Shell Crab Bao, with tempura crab, yellow chilli sauce, homemade pickles and shiso leaf, and the Miso Glazed Black Cod, a signature of modern Japanese cuisine. The Wagyu Tataki, served with ponzu and crispy garlic, and the Spicy Tuna Tartare, topped with avocado, wonton chips, and shichimi. Sharing plates like the Crispy Duck Salad and the indulgent Lobster Tempura offer an elevated approach to communal dining in true Ibiza fashion.
Beyond gastronomy, the Sun & Moon Terrace continues to serve as the cultural heart of Mondrian Ibiza, offering a dynamic calendar of programming and highlights every day from 2pm,  including:

  • Tunes & Tapas, a golden-hour event that blends acoustic covers, signature cocktails and small plates for the perfect start to the evening.
  • The captivating Paint & Sip with Sarah Main, where guests join the iconic Ibiza-based DJ and artist for creative painting sessions under the sky – a Lillet-sponsored celebration of colour, music and expression.
  • Every Friday, the terrace transforms for the Sunset Ritual with Ibiza Global Radio, featuring WOLO – the celebrated multi-instrumentalist known for blending afro house, soul, and jazz with live flutes and percussion. As the sun dips behind Cala Llonga’s hills, this global broadcast event invites locals and guests to connect with Ibiza’s spiritual and sonic rhythms.
  • Additional programming includes immersive mixology experiences, DJ-led soirées, and intimate pop-ups, all set against the picturesque Mediterranean horizon.

With the arrival of NIKO Al Fresco and an inspired calendar of creative and culinary events, Mondrian Ibiza cements Cala Llonga as one of the island’s most exciting dining and cultural destinations.
