A Vacation James Bond Would Approve
For ladies searching for a sexy little number to wear to a premiere of Skyfall or for those who just want to channel that “Bond Girl” je ne sais quoi, Haute Hippie has just the thing with its new All Things Gold fashion line inspired by James Bond and his birthplace, GoldenEye, the Jamaica home of Bond author Ian Fleming.

But for real Bond buffs, a trip to GoldenEye Hotel, situated in the quiet village of Oracabessa Bay on Jamaica's north coast, is a must. Built by Fleming as his Jamaican retreat, GoldenEye is where he penned all 14 James Bond novels. Even Adele wants in on the act!

Today, GoldenEye is owned by Chris Blackwell, the Jamaica-raised founder of Island Records (you know who Bob Marley and U2 are, thanks to him) and owner of the Island Outpost hotel collection. In addition to the Fleming Villa, built in 1949, GoldenEye now comprises a handful of villas and several new beach- and lagoon-side cottages and suites built by Blackwell. Guests can kick back with a Red Stripe or a Blackwell Rum cocktail (shaken, not stirred, of course) at Bizot bar just steps from the private beach and two swimming pools, and are welcome to fully unwind at the lagoon-side FieldSpa.

FUN FACTS…

• Chris Blackwell's ties to the property run right back to when he spent time there as a boy with his mother, Blanche, Fleming himself, and the rest of their posse of glamorous friends.
• At the age of 24 Chris Blackwell was a location scout during the filming of Dr. No, which was shot at locations near GoldenEye. Ian Fleming got him the job.
• Word has it that Blanche was the inspiration for the character of Pussy Galore.
• Octopussy isn't just the title of a Bond story, it was first the name of an octopus that lived under a rock just off the private Fleming Villa beach at GoldenEye. Fleming used to swim out to it and feed it chunks of fresh conch each morning.
