Golf Season: Resorts Where You Can Play Like a Pro Across North America

With the 2025 Masters closing with Rory McIlroy completing his career grand slam, and RBC Heritage now underway, we are officially in the major championship golf season.

While many fans wish they could be at the tournaments (or, playing in them!) there are ample opportunities to get a great game in at the following resorts around the country.

Tee Party at The Short Course at Mountain Shadows Resort Scottsdale | Paradise Valley, Arizona

A desert icon, Mountain Shadows Resort Scottsdale is an upscale resort with roots in 1950s modernism and the only 18-hole, par-3 course in Arizona known as The Short Course. With an emphasis on fun for the casual golfer, as well as the serious player, the newly configured and fully rebuilt course combines more difficult Diamond Tees, intermediate Square Tees and easier Circle Tees to be selected by the golfer to form their personal course layout. Guests at The Short Course can experience something truly unique - a casual, fun afternoon tea with the Tee Party menu (pictured), featuring an array of finger sandwiches and house-made petit fours paired with tea or iced tea. Upgrade and add sparkling wine or a cocktail, like our Rusty's Sweet Tea with vodka, fresh lemon, agave and Dammann tropical iced tea. The Tee Party menu is available daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and must be ordered 48 hours in advance.

Kā’anapali, Maui

Royal Kā'anapali Course and Kā'anapali Kai Golf Course at Ka’anapali Beach Resort

A three-mile stretch of beach that has been touted as one of the best beaches on Maui, Ka’anapali is home to two renowned golf courses that are located on sacred grounds that were once called home to Royal Chiefs of Maui. Both courses feature views of the ocean and neighboring islands, taking golfers Makai (oceanside) and into the West Maui Mountain foothills (Mauka). Course details include:

  • Boasting stunning panoramic views of the islands of Lanai and Molokai from its sloping vistas, the Royal Kā'anapali Course features historical plaques at each tee that share stories and history of Kā’anapali. Fun fact – Arnold Palmer called the 18th hole one of the best and most challenging finishing holes he’d ever played! Images HERE.
  • The Kā'anapali Kai Golf Course once set the scene for Hawaiian royalty who would spend their days admiring the island scenery and taking part in active games, including a form of bowling using stones that are now the fairways of the course. The Kā'anapali Kai Golf Course recently completed a renovation that transformed eight of its bunkers to Billy Bunker style (the best construction method for golf) and refreshed the course’s Pro Shop which now holds some of the best brands in golf.

Old Edwards Inn and Spa and Half-Mile Farm | Highlands, NC

Carved out of the Blue Ridge mountains, Highlands is a region known for spectacular courses. With two accessible courses for guests of Old Edwards Hospitality properties, travelers may choose to spend the day on the greens at either Old Edwards Club, a proper 18-hole course, or GlenCove, a 10-hole walking course.

  • Old Edwards Club: a Tom Jackson-designed course that offers one of the most beautiful and challenging golf games in the destination. The front nine features elevated tees that showcase great views and provide for downhill shots that drop to undulating greens. The front nine is known as the ‘Highlands Course’ because of its mountainous terrain. The back nine is referred to as the Cove Course which flows through a small valley.
  • GlenCove: Named for the beautiful terrain between two mountain ridges, The Saddle at GlenCove is a lighted, 12-hole, par-3 walking course for all ages and skill levels with a putting course and short-game practice area. It’s a place for friends, couples, and families to experience the serenity of the land up close and personal while enjoying friendly competition. The dusk hours will be magical along The Saddle, as the course lights bring a magical ambiance to the landscape.
