Hurtigruten Offers New Port-to-Port Pricing on Norwegian Coastal Voyage
Hurtigruten has announced new port-to-port pricing that will allow travelers to customize their Norwegian exploration by combining the Classic Norwegian Coastal Voyage with extended stays ashore in any of the 34 ports of call visited on the west coast itinerary. The new pricing system benefits Hurtigruten guests who wish to spend more time ashore in certain cities as well as anyone traveling in Norway – whether on a family visit, ski vacation or business trip – as a uniquely scenic mode of transportation. With daily departures, easy online booking and an array of optional excursions, which start at only $32 and range from dog sledding to Sami culture experiences, guests are able to design the itinerary that best fits their needs and preferences. Nightly rates for an unspecified cabin during the winter, autumn/spring and summer are $119, $142 and $202, respectively; rates for guaranteed outside cabins are $127, $158 and $250.

An anchor port for the full itinerary is the bustling historic city of Bergen, which charms visitors with its picturesque streets, well-known Fish Market and beautiful Romanesque architecture; popular attractions include King Hakons Hall, the RosenkrantzTower and the Peninsula of Nordnes with the Aquarium of Bergen. Others include the rich cultural center of Trondheim – which features a modern theatre, the famous Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and the majestic concert hall of Olavshallen – and Tromso, the largest town north of the Arctic Circle and home to the stunning Arctic Cathedral as well as the Northern Lights observation center.

Optional excursions allow passengers to personalize their cruise and return with a greater local experience and understanding of the cultures. Examples include 'A Taste of Vesterålen,' is a guided tour illuminating the history and landscape of the lovely town; the Lofotr Viking Feast, which immerses guests in Viking culture with a visit to the Viking museum and a real Viking feast, complete with home-brewed mead; and a trip across the 71st parallel to the magnificent sub-Arctic landscape of the North Cape Plateau, the northernmost point in continental Europe – and the most popular option in 2010.
