5 Luxury French Towns You Can't Miss

Luxurious French towns have always been the heart and soul surrounding real estate in Nice, France. The world’s elites have found the French countryside to be chock full of beautiful scenery, majestic mountains, and exhilarating culture. On your next visit to France, here are five must-see places.

Cannes, French Riviera

No visit to France would be complete without a trip to Cannes, French Riviera. The city is known primarily for its rich and famous population, luxury hotels and restaurants, and as a host for several famous conferences.

If you’re feeling extra cultural, make sure to schedule your trip during the Festival de Cannes, scheduled for May 16-27 this year.

Grasse, French Riviera

The world’s capital of perfume, Grass. It’s just a little bit north of the glitz and glamour of Cannes, but you wouldn’t know it after seeing the 17th-century-esque views.

Home to around 30 perfume makers, walking along the streets of Grasse will pique the attention of any aromachologist.

Chamonix, Rhone-Alpes

The site of the first Winter Olympics in 1924, Chamonix is situated to the north of Mont Blanc and is well-renowned as one of the oldest ski resorts in France.

No matter the year, Chamonix remains the Alpine hub of activity for skiing, hiking, and even water rafting. The language barrier is no problem given that the village is a well-known tourist hub.

Chamonix has truly established itself as a tourist destination with stunning accommodation options such as the Chalet Amazon Creek, Les Rives D’Argentiere, and, of course, Hotel Mont Blanc. All of which has a stylish mix of traditional foyers and architecture that whisk you back 50 years into the past.

Yvoire, Rhone-Alpes

If adrenaline pumping activities in Chamonix isn’t for you, don’t worry.

Often called one of the most beautiful villages in France, Yvoire was originally a fishing village given it’s close proximity to Lake Geneva.

The town itself is a quick 1 hr 20 min. Drive away from Chamonix and is well known for its medieval buildings and floral displays in the summer. If you plan to visit, make sure to pen in a trip to the Garden of Five Senses for eye candy that will delight your senses with thousands of flowers, fruits, and mazes as far as the eye can see.

St-Guilhem-le-Desert, Languedoc

The French Riviera and Rhone-Alpes are not the only places worth a visit in France. St-Guilhelm-le-Desert in Languedoc is situated in southern France alongside the Gellone River’s narrow valley.

Though it may not be for the average tourist, Saint Guilhelm le Desert has often been called one of the most beautiful villages of France with a small population of over 260 people.

The town’s beauty is different from the other’s mentioned on this list, however. Where other’s, such as Chamonix and Cannes may have luxurious resorts and hotels, St-Guilhelm-le-Desert’s beauty is simpler and refined. Strolling the Abbey of Gellone or just the sidewalks of this town will teleport just about anyone to the early 800’s, given that the village has maintained much of its historic state.
