5 Things not to be missed when visiting the Champs-Élysées
August 16, 2017
While the entire city has so much to offer, the Avenue des Champs-Élysées has long been a favourite with tourists; known for its theatres, cafés, and luxury shops, it has become one of the most famous streets in the world.
The grandeur area is home to the flagship stores of the most famous designers in the world, chic coffee shops perfect for people watching, and two of the city’s famous landmarks; the Arc de Triomphe and La Grand Palais. The Champs-Elysees is an area that blends the hidden gems with the iconic Paris monuments, and represents the modern-day city.
Here are 5 things not to be missed when visiting the Champs-Élysées:
Must Stay at La Réserve Paris Hotel and Spa
Discreetly hidden behind a curtain of trees and made up of 40 elegantly designed rooms and suites, La Réserve Paris Hotel and Spa is the ultimate insider’s address. It’s the only hotel in Paris that offers each guest their own personal butler and the smallest Paris hotel to be awarded the prestigious Palace status. The hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the Champs-Élysées and a great location for exploring the avenue and its famous shops.
The hotel also features a highly sought-after spa - the first spa in France to offer the Swiss scientific anti-ageing brand, Nescens. The spa is located on the lower-ground floor making it an ideal sanctuary from the bustling city. There is a host of treatments available for both men and women and a beautiful indoor swimming pool.
Stay at La Réserve Paris Hotel & Spa from £630 (750 EUR) per room per night including breakfast and tax. (+33 1 58 36 60 60 |

Visit La Grand Palais for a unique art show
Rising above the Champs Elysées are the splendid geometrical glass rooftops of the Grand and Petit Palais, built for the Universal Exposition of 1900. The Petit Palais houses a fine arts museum while the Grand Palais has a science museum and regularly hosts events and exhibitions. Currently, the iconic Parisian monument is hosting the exhibition of the incredible sculptures by Marc Chagall and an exhibition on the history of the Altai region of eastern Siberia.

Visit Théâtre des Champs-Élysées
This famous theatre, located at 15 avenue Montaigne, was built in 1913 in Art Deco-style, and instantly became notorious for its hosting of Igor Stravinsky's then-scandalous Rite of Spring ballet and orchestral concert. It's an opulent setting for a romantic evening out in Paris. Enjoy a Parisian theatre night watching the incredible National French Orchestra or a magical opera performance of Macbeth.

Climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe
Located at the top of the Champs Elysées is the Arc de Triomphe -one of the most famous monuments in Paris. Visitors can admire the arch from below at the ground level on foot whilst shopping on the Champs Elysées, or for incredible views over the city, climb the landmark’s 284 steps. While the Eiffel Tower is on every tourist’s bucket list, the Arc de Triomphe offers a more stress-free experience still with excellent views of the city.
