5 Tips to Enjoy the Masters in Style

The Masters is the premier golf experience for both golfers and its fans. Considered the most prestigious golf title in the world,  the Masters experience is one to be coveted. Played on the Augusta National Golf Club during the first week of April, this is an event not to miss if given the opportunity Here is how to maximize your experience.

1. Staying near Augusta National requires planning. There are several hotels in the area.  In addition, many private homes are available for rent during the Masters. This is an excellent option because it allows the group to spend more time together re-telling their stories and sightings from the day. The homeowner will make sure the house has a working grill and kitchen.  Hire a private cook, and relax while your meals are planned and executed.

2. Bring a high quality camera for Monday-Wednesday.  Cameras are allowed Monday-Wednesday and at the Par 3 tournament on Wednesday. They are prohibited once tournament play begins.  And while your cell phone has a camera, leave it in the car, or your residence. They are not allowed on the course, and you will be asked to leave the golf course.

3. To enjoy the day, dress in layers, with a hat, short sleeve shirt and light jacket. Bring sunscreen and sunglasses for protection and wear walking shoes.  Leave space in your luggage for merchandise. Official Masters merchandise is only available during the tournament.  Items do sell out quickly so it is suggested that you purchase at the beginning of the week and not hesitate. Caps, polo shirts, golf balls, bag towels, fold up chairs, and umbrellas are a few of the items available.  Major credit cards are accepted.

4. Leave beverages and coolers at home, as they are prohibited.  Picnic grounds are near Gate 10 and at the gates of the patron’s corridor. The Masters is the best priced sporting event concessions.  Make a point to have the pimento cheese sandwich, as well as other Southern specialties while there.

5.Travel by private jet.  The Masters is the busiest sporting event for private jet travel during the year.  An on demand charter broker such as ReadyJet Charters can book your private jet for your group. The closest regional airports are Daniel Field (KDNL) which is 3 miles away, and Bush Field, Augusta Regional (KAGS) which is 10 miles away.  Slot times do fill quickly for these airports so advance planning is suggested. There are 8 other regional airports within 40 miles of Augusta National, so there will be a slot available

Attending the Masters is a bucket list experience. If you are lucky enough to get tickets, experience every aspect possible. It is one of the few places today cell phones are prohibited and you can be completely in the experience. Augusta National is one of the few courses never given a rating by the USGA, and with only 300 members, it is one of the most coveted courses in the world today.  So, book your private jet, stay in a beautiful home and have the experience of a lifetime.
