8-foot-tall Gingerbread Arch at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis
The gingerbread Gateway Arch, which is built to scale, is located in the lobby of the Clayton, Mo. luxury hotel and overlooks a gingerbread version of Santa Claus' enchanted wintry North Pole village. The real 630-foot-tall Gateway Arch overlooks the Mississippi River in downtown St. Louis.

The Arch required meticulous planning plus 60 pounds of gingerbread, and the entire display took over 120 hours to create.

The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis Executive Pastry Chef, Nathaniel Reid, was named one of the “Top 10 Pastry Chefs in America” by Dessert Professional magazine in 2012 – also has created a special line of chocolate bars, jams and other goodies for sale this holiday season. The hotel is donating a portion of the proceeds to the local Ronald McDonald House Charities.
