A Guy’s Trip, For The Girls at Sea Island

A Guy’s Trip, For The Girls at Sea Island

While the global pandemic has encouraged priceless family time at home, many travelers are looking forward to trips with friends. With plenty of stories surrounding the best girls and guys getaways, Sea Island, the Forbes-Five Star resort on the southeastern coast of Georgia, thinks that guys' trips can also be for the girls.

Many women enjoy activities and experiences that are traditionally considered masculine. With 93 outdoor experiences to choose from, Sea Island is the perfect activity-filled destination for a girls getaway. Whether it be golfing, fishing, sport shooting, whiskey tasting on a yacht or indulging in steak dinners at Colt & Alison, ladies can take back the weekend and make Saturdays for the girls at Sea Island.

  • Golf: Sea Island has long been regarded as one of the premier golf destinations for luxury travelers. From the Sea Island Golf Club’s early beginnings in 1928 records have been set, championships have been hosted, and top touring professionals have been lured to Sea Island’s glorious setting. Gals can enjoy this Sea Island tradition by taking lessons with a golf professional at the state-of-the art Golf Performance Center, tee up at one of three championship golf courses, or test their putting skills at the 18-hole putting course. They may even run into PGA TOUR top players who live and train on Sea Island.
  • Fishing: With beautiful temperatures and vast, surrounding waterways, Sea Island offers some of the best year-round fishing on the east coast. Sea Island’s coast is home to more salt-water marsh than any surrounding state and filled with nutrient-rich waters which make for plentiful fishing opportunities, unique to Sea Island. The resort has a fleet of customized fishing boats that allow visitors to fish anywhere from shallow water creeks to 80 miles offshore in the Gulf Stream. Additionally, Sea Island’s full-time fishing guides spend more than 300 days a year on the water, making them experts on catching fish and customizing the fishing experience.
  • Whisky Tastings: Groups can book a private whisky tasting on the Sea Island Explorer, the 71-foot custom yacht reminiscent of classic yachts from the 1930s. The intimate tasting gives a guided tour of The Macallan’s collection of extraordinary single malt whiskeys and the history of The Macallan.
  • Shooting School: The shooting school at Sea Island includes a 5-Stand sporting clay field, two skeet ranges, a trap field and certified instructors. Ladies can test their aim at the Annie Oakley Shooting Hour. Specifically designed for women, this group instruction highlights gun safety, equipment, shooting position and strategy.

Ladies looking to enhance an activity-focused trip to Sea Island should book their accommodations at The Lodge. The resort has seven “golf in, golf out” cottages all boasting stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. As with all other accommodations at The Lodge, guests in the cottages receive personalized butler service and access to all resort amenities and activities Sea Island has to offer. The crown jewel of these is the 4,200 square-foot King Cottage. With four spacious bedrooms, each with its own full marble bathroom; a large living and dining area for entertaining; a catering kitchen with Executive Chef; and most notably, a private, indoor hitting bay where players hit directly onto the driving range.
