Mid-day on day 6, your guide will deliver you the short distance through the rolling countryside to your final hotel, Palazzo Margherita, in the town of Bernalda. Here you will discover the simple charms of southern Italy unaffected by tourism. A historic centre accommodating the generation raised and still dwelling in the white washed two-storied buildings, alongside the more newly developed (though far from modern) city centre. The almost hidden entrance of the Palazzo Margherita is set between the old and new town along what is essentially Main Street, offering its guests the chance to observe both. If you seek the path less travelled and enjoy witnessing the rhythms of modest Italian life, absent of museum cues, bustling streets and a checklist of ‘must sees' then Bernalda is a destination sure to please. You'll be in exceptional hands during your time at Palazzo Margherita – a property that achieves the rare balance of exceptional elegance and at-home comfort.

Palazzo is located a short distance away from beautiful, deep, soft and sandy beaches. Within 15 minutes of the Palazzo, many miles of sandy beaches extend along the cobalt-blue shores of the Ionian Sea, where they have a special private area of a beach club close to the old pine forest. In there are a few options of getting to the beach, you could cycle along a beautiful rural way or there is a daily free shuttle to the private beach leaving at 1030am and returning at 4pm. We suggest either a picnic lunch which is prepared by the chefs or a characteristic lunch or dinner with fresh fish of the day, caught by the local fishermen. Upon arrival, guests will find a welcome drink and fresh fruit to begin your relaxing day at the beach!
