Amazing Sardinia: The Wild & Luxury Countryside of Costa Smeralda

Costa Smeralda is the most sought after place in Sardinia, Italy. This is the land of A-list people, lavish villas and shiny brand new yachts at the docks, glamorous parties and Hollywood celebrities looking for sea and sun all year long.

Well, the Emerald Coast is much more than this. If you do not fancy much gossip and nightlife but you would like to experience a more intimate, exclusive and off-the-beaten-path Sardinia, head to the 4 star Hotel Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru in Arzachena.

This impressive 32 hectares luxury estate is perched on the sunny, emerald hills of Costa Smeralda countryside just a 10 minutes’ drive from the famous Capriccioli, Ramazzino and Pevero beaches. This is the true heart of Gallura, one of the most pristine and untouched sites of Sardinia.

Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru perfectly blends the two souls of this area: the exclusive and quiet countryside and the refined and elegant identity of the coast.

Countryside at its best

Olive groves, perfectly kept grass lawns, fruit trees, mirth and scented plants surround the villas, the rooms and the wide 3 swimming pools of Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru.

Have a dive, go for a walk and spend your spare time with a refreshing drink in your hands while reading your favorite book or magazine. Or simply sleep poolside enjoying the warmth of the Sardinia breeze.

The area that covers this Costa Smerlada resort is so wide you will never have to worry about noise or crowds: this is a total private haven.

Rooms and villas: luxury out of simplicity

Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru Resort boasts quite a special kind of luxury: a luxury that is never loud or lavish, but refined and elegant.

The Florentine lawyer Geraldina Giovannoni inherited this property from his parents and decided to turn the old family sharecropper cottages into luxury retreats for travelers flocking here from all around the world. Luxury rooms, suites and private villas with pool up to 6 guests.

Rather than creating a hotel, she gave birth to a private residence, well-appointed with exquisite taste, using furniture from local artisans mixed up with her own vintage furniture pieces: wooden wardrobes, writing desks, romantic trunks and even sewing machines.

This is my home and I want our guests to feel like home as well”, Geraldina says.

Sublime local cuisine

One of the highlights of Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru is the Costa Smeralda Restaurant La Ciminea that offers high quality Sardinia dishes.

Sardinian pork, sheep’s cheese, seasonal smoked cheeses, honey, and fresh fish are bought from Gallura producers, while herbs and fruits come directly from the garden of Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru, to adorn the dishes and prepare genuine jams served for breakfast, made out of lemons, oranges, figs and prickly pears.

During the summer, you can have a taste of the real Sardinia cuisine attending the Traditional Dinner organized on Sundays: zuppa coatta (the local soup), the sweet raviolis with ricotta cheese, the Sardinian gnocchi called “malloreddus” with sausage sauce and much more.

Experience the beaches and countryside of Costa Smeralda

Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru offers plenty of activities and places to explore.

Go for a boat trip and reach the enchanting islands of the Maddalena Archipelago or the hidden rocky coves of the coast. Organize a trekking trip in the hinterland or a horseback ride along desert beaches. Play a golf match or simply spend a day on the beach, snorkeling, wind surfing or kite surfing.

If you prefer cultural spots, visit the Arzachena archeological sites of tombs, nuraghe and necropolises just a few minutes from the resort and meet local producers trying organic wines and products.

You will also have the chance to spend the night or go shopping in Porto Cervo, the mecca of luxury in Costa Smeralda, a 20 minutes drive from the resort.
