Antarctica air-cruise pioneer Antarctica21 has opened bookings for its 2028-29 season, adding 47 air-cruise departures to its voyage collection. The new season unveils the most departure dates the company has ever offered in a single season, marking 25 years of Antarctic air-cruise operation. In 2003, Antarctica21 replaced the two-day crossing of the Drake Passage with a two-hour direct flight to Antarctica, where guests board a boutique expedition ship and explore the Peninsula. More than two decades later, the model it created remains the fastest and most comfortable way to reach the White Continent.
During the 2028-29 season, all air-cruise itineraries will be operated on Antarctica21's two purpose-built vessels, Magellan Explorer and Magellan Discoverer, giving guests the widest choice of travel dates in the company's history. All itineraries will begin and end in Punta Arenas, the Chilean gateway to Antarctica, providing guests a single point of start and end for their Antarctic journey. Guests also will be provided with exclusive access to Explorers House, the company's private expedition club in Punta Arenas.
“When Antarctica21 flew its first guests across the Drake in 2003, our ambition was to create the finest way to experience Antarctica,” said Brigitte Lämmle, Sales & Marketing Director of Antarctica21. “Scheduling 47 Antarctic air-cruise departures for the 2028-29 season is the most exciting expression of that ambition yet. And for us, each expedition comes with two promises: an Antarctic experience as refined as it is responsible, and a journey that changes the lives of the guests who make it.”
To mark the opening, Antarctica21 is offering early-booking savings of up to $5,000 USD per person on all Classic Antarctica and Polar Circle air-cruise departures in the 2028-29 season. The offer is valid for new bookings made through Jan. 31, 2027, or until the allocated cabins are sold out, whichever comes first. Antarctica21 is a boutique expedition company based in Punta Arenas, Chile. In 2003, the company pioneered the Antarctic air-cruise, flying guests over the Drake Passage to board purpose-built expedition vessels in Antarctica. Its fleet includes Magellan Explorer and the new Magellan Discoverer, South America’s first hybrid-electric polar expedition vessel. A CarbonNeutral® certified company and a member of IAATO (International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators), Antarctica21 combines small-scale, intimate expeditions with a deep commitment to responsible travel.
