Anticipated Hotel Renovations of 2022

As 2021 draws to an end, here is a list of hotels completing renovations in 2022.

Villa La Estancia in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico

Situated in the exclusive resort community of Nuevo Vallarta on the white sands of Banderas Bay’s Flamingos Beach, this AAA Four-Diamond Resort will unveil completely renovated suites throughout the resort. Updates include renewed upholstery, refreshed interior colors, art and furniture complete with new American leather sofa beds and audio/video systems. The resort will remain true to its hacienda-style décor by elevating traditional design with brighter colors, upgraded amenities and contemporary Mexican-style features. La Casona, the property’s award-winning, on-site steakhouse, will also introduce a celebrity chef from the U.S. in the new year to curate inventive menus and pop-up culinary events for guests. The Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club in St. Petersburg, FL

Anticipated completion: Summer 2022

First opened in the Roaring Twenties on Florida’s west coast, the historic Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club is in the midst of a sophisticated redesign that will honor its rich history, encompassing the resort’s legendary veranda, porte cochère, main lobby, guest rooms, spa, ballrooms, restaurants and more. Envisioned by the world-renowned Rockwell Group and Hart Howerton, The Vinoy’s renovations will preserve the resort’s timeless details, including the famed pink façade and Chihuly chandelier, while adding graceful touches that highlight these original elements, further establishing the iconic resort as a pillar of downtown St. Petersburg for years to come.

Caribe Royale Orlando in Orlando, FL

Anticipated completion: Early 2022

After an extensive, $127 million-dollar renovation, Caribe Royale in Orlando is introducing families, couples and groups with a completely reimagined luxury travel experience – conveniently located near Walt Disney World and Orlando’s other top theme parks. Come 2022, guests will walk into a bright, modernized lobby and will be able to check in to brand new 1-bedroom suites or 2-bedroom villas (large enough to accommodate six people plus pets!) for an epic Orlando getaway. The new collection of classic-meets-contemporary suites welcome guests with a distinctly Floridian aesthetic (soothing color palettes influenced by the shades of the sea) and refreshing décor throughout the suites’ vast separate living room and bedroom areas – emulating a true home-away-from home atmosphere (with some suites offering direct pool views). Remote workers and extended stay travelers can also take advantage of the new dedicated workspace found in all suites and villas, thoughtfully designed to provide the perfect balance of work and play.

Hacienda Xcanatun by Angsana in Merida, Mexico

Voted the Cultural Capital of the Americas, the quaint city of Mérida boasts a diverse panoply of art, architecture, and food. For truly authentic accommodations, visitors should look no further than Hacienda Xcanatun by Angsana , an oasis of charm and beauty conveniently located within the walls of an XVIII century hacienda. In Q1 2022, the resort will add 36 additional suites to its current roster of 18, each totaling over 500 square feet. Guests are exposed to immersive Mayan-focused cultural experiences within the four walls of the resort, including cooking classes and access to local wildlife in Suite 319, which doubles as a veterinary hospital for iguanas, squirrels, herons and other rare bird species (including the fascinating Mayan songbird). The Sikil Pak cooking class is a favorite among guests and taught by Executive Chef Reyna Garcia. Chef Reyna teaches guests how to make traditional Mayan pepita salad, a starter staple on every table in the Yucatán.

Hotel AKA NoMad – New York City, NY
Anticipated completion: Spring 2022

Formerly the Roger New York, Hotel AKA NoMad will be one of a few new transient hotels for the global hotel + hotel residence brand, AKA. Currently undergoing a complete design transformation by internationally renowned interior designer and architect, Piero Lissoni of Lissoni New York, the hotel will debut in Spring of 2022 as his first-ever U.S. hotel. The re-imagined hotel will offer guests a refined and sophisticated oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
