Anticipated Hotel Openings Around the World for 2019

From Avani’s new hotel in Koh Samui, the Savoy Palace in Madeira, Le Sereno’s re-opening in St Barths, The Fife Arms in the Scottish Highlands, and THE Park Hotels’ re-launch of India’s oldest hotel make the cut for five of the most anticipated hotel openings around the world in 2019.

AVANI - The quiet side of Koh Samui / the island’s reinvention / new excellent value offering for millennial mindsets

Leading global hotel brand for millennial-mindsets, AVANI, is opening a 58 room and villa seaside hideaway on the quiet, lush side of Koh Samui. It is set to be another level for the brand - there are currently 24 properties around the world and this will be the second AVANI+ to open, representing their most luxurious properties.

The resort offers excellent value for money with villas from £120, whilst presenting great design (nature-inspired interiors), spacious accommodation, off the beaten track / nature experiences, outstanding F&B, spa facilities and various pools (many of the villas having private ones).

There was a recent Telegraph article about the new hotel developments in Koh Samui and how it has reinvented itself as Thailand’s most luxurious holiday island. It is set to be a hot destination for 2019.

Savoy Palace - The new luxury face of Madeira / Europe’s new adventure capital

Savoy Palace (pictured) is opening in April 2019 in sub-tropical Madeira (named The Best European Island in the World Travel Awards five years running). It will be a game changer for the destination and is set to be ‘the new luxury face of Madeira’ – it’s the first member of Leading Hotels Of The World in the destination.

Savoy Palace has a world-class destination spa, rooftop lounge with panoramic views, terraced gardens, multiple pools (including a spectacular infinity pool and one dedicated to kids) and an array of stylish restaurants and bars. The bold, curved structure houses 352 chic guest rooms, with ocean-facing balconies. It is designed by award-winning RH+ and interior designer Nini Andrade Silva - Madeira’s most famous designer.

Madeira was named ‘Europe’s new adventure capital’ earlier this year. It is home to some of the best trails for hiking, running and cycling on the continent and is attracting a younger audience with excellent hotels, restaurants, bars, outdoor activities and some of the most striking scenery in Europe – it has lush, volcanic terrain and is on the same latitude as Casablanca, making it a great short-haul (3.5 hour flight) winter sun option, as well as for the rest of the year.

St. Barths is back / Le Sereno re-opens

Following Hurricane Irma, that wreaked havoc on St. Barths, the destination is back. Le Sereno, originally designed by Christian Liaigre and consistently listed as one of the top luxury hotels in the Caribbean will re-open on 1st December with new suites, restaurant, family suites, spa and fitness facilities. It is in the picturesque and quieter north-east side of the island on a nature reserve, with turtles regularly swimming past – it is a regular back drop for Victoria Secrets shoots and the number one wedding venue on the island.

THE Park Hotels re-launches India’s Oldest Hotel, north of Calcutta

THE Park Hotels, pioneers of design-hotels in India, are launching their first heritage project at the end of 2018. Situated on the banks of the Hooghly River in Serampore, 35 KM of Calcutta, Denmark Tavern was originally established in 1736 as India’s first hotel, when the area was under Danish control. Under CEO Priya Paul’s direction - referred to as the ‘Ian Schrager of India’ - the six suite hotel will sensitively blend her contemporary design touches with the heritage of this historically important building. Guests can arrive by THE Park Hotels’ yacht, a one hour cruise from the bustling city of Calcutta along the Hooghly River, where THE Park Hotels has another of their key hotels, THE Park Calcutta.

The Fife Arms – A Hotel of The Highlands from Swiss Art Power Couple Iwan and Manuela Wirth

This December, Swiss art power couple Iwan and Mauela Wirth (founders of Hauser & Wirth) will open their first hotel project in the Scottish Highlands, The Fife Arms.  Following two years of intensive restoration, the storied 19th century Victorian coaching inn will re-open as an enchanting new hotel for the Highlands, featuring more than 12,000 works of art by internationally-renowned artists such as Zhang Enli, Guillermo Kuitca, Subodh Gupta, and Bharti Kher; an outstanding array of Scottish artworks; a range of activities from fishing and stalking and spa treatments, and 46 Victorian accommodations. Located just a few miles from the royal family’s Balmoral estate, the tiny village of Braemar is a hidden gem, seeped in rich history and surrounded by stunning natural beauty of the Cairngorms National Park.  The Aberdeenshire town has drawn thousands to its annual Highland Games since their inauguration 200 years ago and is home to the cottage where Robert Louis Stevenson wrote Treasure Island.
