Antigua's Jumby Bay Resort to Reopen After Renovations

Antigua's Jumby Bay Resort to Reopen After Renovations
Anticipation rises as the unveiling of Jumby Bay, a newly remodeled luxury resort in Antigua, draws near. In June 2008, on the heels of being named the World's Best Caribbean Resort by readers of Travel + Leisure, the lush, private island luxury resort off the northeast coast of Antigua closed for a $28-million transformation.

Jumby Bay is scheduled to re-open in Antigua on November 1, 2009 with plenty to anticipate. Resort renovations include a new spa, restaurants, guest rooms and 28 new suites, as well as new luxury Estate Homes. Jumby Bay has begun accepting bookings for the 2009/2010 season. Inclusive opening rates will start at $1,150 per night. Here's what guests have to look forward to when this luxury Caribbean resort reopens:

NEW Accommodations: Jumby Bay is heightening the guest experience with the enhanced 40 guest rooms comprised of 28 new and 12 updated suites. Interior design by Miami-based IDC captures the spirit of a tropical hideaway, with casual elegance and romantic British Colonial style. All hotel suites are just steps from the beach and offer views of the Caribbean Sea.

NEW Spa: After years of private, in-room massage treatments, Jumby Bay will unveil its spa. Sense, A Rosewood Spa® will welcome guests to a sanctuary with signature spa treatments and five treatment rooms. This open-air luxury spa is architecturally engaging, reminiscent of colonial design, highlighting classic Mediterranean and Caribbean accents.

NEW Verandah Restaurant: Antigua's new Verandah Restaurant offers an inspired setting for relaxed yet elegant dining and includes a regular schedule of classes from Jumby Bay Culinary Experiences cooking school with the Executive Chef. Verandah Bar and lounge areas face the sea with an air of casual beach chic pervading under cooling ceiling fans.

NEW Bistro-Style Restaurant: The Pool Grille is the place for swimmers and sun worshipers to take a break with simple healthful fare and refreshing beverages including cocktails, mocktails and more. The Grille is located between the resort's new oceanfront infinity pool and the Caribbean Sea.

NEW Estate Homes: Along with villas, the Estate Homes were the only accommodations to remain open during the renovations. Antigua's Jumby Bay is proud to offer two new Estate Homes valued at $22 million apiece and stretching at least 9,750 square feet. Each home features classic Caribbean design with an array of amenities and use of the resort's services.
