Ashford Castle Named One of the Top 3 Hotels in the World
The hotel also placed #2 in the category of "Best Resorts and Inns in Europe." These rankings make Ashford Castle the top-rated hotel in Ireland.

Ashford Castle, Ireland's most historic five-star castle hotel, dates back to 1228 and is set on 350 acres of County Mayo on the shores of Lough Corrib and the River Cong, with a spectacular backdrop of woodlands, lake, river and mountains. This spring, the hotel reopened its 82 elegantly designed guest rooms with modern amenities after an extensive two-year restoration project. It is renowned for a range of country sports including an equestrian center, fly fishing, clay target shooting, kayaking, zip lining, tennis, an exclusive nine-hole golf course and Ireland's first school of falconry. Facilities also include a spa, cinema, billiards room, and several dining rooms and bars.

"We are thrilled and honored to have received this recognition," said Niall Rochford, General Manager of Ashford Castle. "The hotel has long been a favorite of American travelers and the extensive restoration has made the property even more impressive, without sacrificing any of the original charm and warm, welcoming service of our staff."

For the past 20 years, Travel+Leisure has invited travelers to annually rate resorts on their rooms, facilities, location, service, restaurants/food and value. The resorts with the best overall ratings are then given the designation of "World's Best." The full results will be featured in the upcoming August 2015 issue of the magazine.
