Banwa Private Island Opens in the Philippines for $100,000 Per Night

After 10 years in the making, the long-awaited opening of Banwa Private Island has made its debut in the Northern Palawan region of the Philippines. The ultra-exclusive resort becomes one of the world’s most lavish private island retreats with a price tag of $100,000 per night.

The 15-acre private island is comprised of six beach-front villas, twelve garden rooms and one residential 360˚ suite located at the highest point on the island, brilliantly designed to complement the views over the transparent ocean waters and white sands; floor to ceiling windows, a private infinity pool and Jacuzzi deck. The expansive property is only available for exclusive use.

The Banwa Private Island experience starts with a 50-minute private jet transfer from Manila to Palawan, followed by a short 10-minute helicopter transfer. Both direct seaplane or helicopter transfers are available from Manila too.  Once on-island, guests can spend their days as they wish, enjoying unlimited treatments in the massage suite, playing tennis, practicing their golf on the beautiful short game course or simply relaxing on the beach. Other activities include beach volleyball, table-tennis, pool and soccer and guests can stay in shape at the island’s gym and Pilates studio.

For those wanting to explore the dramatic local landscapes, guests can opt to hike some truly magical trails in the area.  The Underground River near Puerto Princesa (one of UNESCO’s New 7 Wonders of Nature), the mangrove-lined shores of the Barbacan River and the undiscovered reefs of Araceli which are a haven for many rare and varied species are also local wonders and can be visited from the island’s yachts.

The island’s boat fleet and water sports equipment are also world-class. Guests can enjoy wonderful excursions aboard the island’s limousine tender – a Wajer 38 - the first luxury guest tender of this quality in the Philippines. Furthermore, for those who would like to discover remote island locations and spend a couple of nights on board, the Lagoon 630 Catamaran yacht provides the perfect, luxurious platform to do so.  For divers, the region offers some of the best diving anywhere on earth.  Banwa’s dive team can take guests to the world-renowned Tubbataha Reef and a host of other dive sites which are easily accessible on the Wajer limousine tender.

With Banwa’s health and wellness-based philosophy in mind, guests have access to a nutritionist to help kickstart a healthier lifestyle that will inspire them to continue their program long after they’ve left. Banwa Private Island’s Head Chef, Ms Nadedja Bouacha, is a former private chef and nutritionist to the Qatar Royal Family who has also been formally trained in wellness and nutrition.

Banwa is committed to preserving and protecting the natural splendor and precious biodiversity of the Philippines and Palawan region.  The team has set an ambitious long-term project to nurture the acres of their natural surroundings, unique marine life and flora and fauna for years to come.  They have been working in conjunction with The Aquos Foundation, Banwa’s sister company, to support with research, education and special projects, such as reef regeneration initiatives and the implementation of controlled fishing zones to protect fish stocks.

Meanwhile on-island there is an organic farm and other eco-based initiatives including two artesian wells providing a naturally replenishing reservoir of fresh spring water from a depth of over 500 feet below the island’s white sands.
