On November 1, Banyan Tree planted its flag in the historic city of Puebla, Mexico. Formerly the Azul Talavera Hotel, Banyan Tree Puebla merges emblematic Mexican culture with the high-class service standards that define the luxury brand rooted in Asian hospitality.
This transformation will include the introduction of a Banyan Tree Spa featuring the flagship training of the Banyan Tree Spa Academy, the opening of Italian restaurant Trattoria Cello, and Banyan Tree’s signature Saffron restaurant on the hotel’s iconic rooftop terrace, bringing authentic Thai gastronomy to the heart of Puebla to pair with the sweeping church steeple skyline, historic bell towers and five stunning volcanoes.
As a pioneer of localized stewardship via the implementation of its “Stay for Good” program, which focuses on regenerative and wellbeing-focused practices for the communities it inhabits, Banyan Tree’s arrival in Puebla will contribute to the preseveration of the city’s culture and environment, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Through a second core pillar of Stay For Good, Banyan Tree will also empower Puebla locals by providing a sustainable workplace as well as curated education and vocational programs available to all community members.
The opening of Banyan Tree Puebla marks the beginning of a series of openings that will considerably grow the Group’s existing portfolio in Mexico, including Banyan Tree Mayakoba, Banyan Tree Cabo Marques (Acapulco) and Hacienda Xcanatun (Merida). The next property to open will be the highly anticipated Banyan Tree Valle de Guadalupe Resort, Spa and Winery (Harvest 2023), followed by Banyan Tree El Cielo.
Banyan Tree Puebla showcases the best of Mexican culture through the architectonic elements, traditional and contemporary artwork and colorful crafts such as the renowned Talavera Poblana found throughout the property. Hand-curated for the culture seeker, guests can expect to find:
