Baros Maldives’ Lighthouse Restaurant Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Baros Maldives’ Lighthouse Restaurant Celebrates 20th Anniversary

Baros Maldives, one of the first properties to open in the Maldives in 1973, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its signature overwater dining destination, The Lighthouse Restaurant, on December 26. First opened in 2005, The Lighthouse is instantly recognizable by its sculptural white sail. As the first two-story structure built over water in the Maldives, it represented a bold architectural milestone, one that helped redefine luxury dining in the archipelago. Over the past twenty years, it has evolved into a true symbol of Baros, which travelers can even spot from a plane and recognize the five-star property above in the sky. Today, The Lighthouse remains one of the most distinctive and sought-after culinary experiences in the Maldives.

Marking exactly two decades since it first opened, the evening will begin with a cocktail reception in the Palm Garden, accompanied by a live performance from a young music trio. Adding to the celebration, renowned Maldivian artist Ahmed “Andhu” Nimad will create a live painting in harmony with the music. A legacy of culinary craftsmanship, The Lighthouse continues to be celebrated for its thoughtful blend of French technique, Maldivian flavors, and Asian influence, masterfully shaped by Baros’ acclaimed culinary team. Guests can enjoy a 20th anniversary menu with dish highlights from over the years.

“The Lighthouse is more than a restaurant – it is a symbol of Baros,” says Ibrahim Shijah, General Manager of Baros Maldives. “For 20 years, it has set the standard for intimate, elegant dining in the Maldives, rooted in genuine hospitality and a sense of place. We are honored to celebrate this milestone with our guests around the world.” Baros invites guests to celebrate the anniversary throughout 2026.
