Bermuda's Elbow Beach Introduces Children's Summer Adventure Camp

The week begins with all Adventure Camp participants and their parents enjoying a meet and greet campfire on Elbow Beach with the camp counselors on the Sunday evening. Camp participants will roast marshmallows for s'mores as they get to know each other before the adventures begin.

Each day of the seven-day Camp offers a different and unique Bermudian experience. The seven themes are Shipwrecks, Flora and Fauna, Marine Life, History of Bermuda, Cave Exploration, Sports and Bermuda's Forts. Some activities will take place on Elbow Beach's 50 acre resort gardens and private beach, while additional activities will take participants to other Bermuda parishes such as Somerset, Southampton and Smiths.

Activities include visiting the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute to learn all about Bermuda's shipwrecks and other underwater treasures, shallow water snorkeling with fish and coral identification cards for “I Spy” in the clear waters off Elbow Beach, a visit to Walsingham Caves to discover Bermuda's over one million year old cave system. Kids can also learn how to play the islands national sport, cricket. Other fun adventures include a nature hike around Spittal Pond, where participants will get to see the amazing natural rock formation “chess board”, beach walks to learn all about why Bermuda's sand is pink and so much more.

The Adventure Camp is priced at $75 per child per day which includes round trip transportation to all off-property activities and a boxed lunch. “And the best part is children can bring their parents for free,” said Edward Shapard, General Manager. For those parents that are also interested in participating in The Adventure Camps activities with their children, they are welcome to and are included in the price for their children. The Adventure Camp will be offered during the following four weeks:

• Sunday, July 22 to Sunday, July 29, 2012
• Sunday, Aug. 19 to Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012
• Sunday, Aug. 26 to Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012
