Bermuda's Hamilton Princess & Beach Club Kicks off SailGP Season 3

Hamilton Princess & Beach Club will kick off Season 3 of Sail Grand Prix (SailGP) as the host hotel and title partner for the Bermuda Sail Grand Prix presented by Hamilton Princess on May 14 and 15, 2022. This is the second consecutive year the luxury resort has hosted the purpose-led, global racing league that features sailing’s best athletes racing in identical hydrofoiling F50 catamarans, flying at speeds approaching 100 kilometers per hour, building to the grand final and sailing’s top prize of US$1 million.

For its third season, SailGP returns with the addition of new teams, bringing the sport’s best roster of athletes together and welcoming two new franchise teams from Canada and Switzerland. They join teams from Australia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Japan, New Zealand, Spain and the United States. SailGP Season 3 will host 10 events with seven grand prix taking place in 2022 and the remainder in the first quarter of 2023, with the final event taking place in April 2023.

From its inception in 2019, SailGP has measured, reduced and contributed its carbon footprint and has set an ambitious target of 55 percent carbon footprint reduction based on science by 2025. The event also commits to being fully powered by nature by 2025 on shore and on the water.

Season 3 of SailGP will also focus on diversity, equity and inclusion with the Women’s Pathway Program, which will highlight female involvement as they race onboard the high-speed F50s throughout the season. SailGP will also use its community-engagement arm – SailGP Inspire – to introduce young people from diverse backgrounds to the sport and give career opportunities within the wider marine industry.
