California Fall Hotel Openings 2022 - Coast, Desert, Mountains

Fall is approaching quickly and many highly anticipated California hotels are gearing up to open from the coast, to the desert, to the mountains.

Sensei Porcupine Creek - Rancho Mirage, CA (pictured)

  • As Sensei’s second retreat and first United States mainland retreat, Sensei Porcupine Creek will convert a 230-acre private estate, nestled against the Santa Rosa mountains in Rancho Mirage, California, into an ultra-luxury wellbeing experience. The tranquil and intimate setting will feature a small number of hotel rooms in the former estate house, as well as private villas clustered throughout the luxurious property. Renowned for its private golf course, world-class tennis facilities and notable guests, Sensei Porcupine Creek will offer similar spa, nutrition, movement, and other wellness and sports programs found at its sister facility, Sensei Lāna’i, A Four Seasons Resort in Hawaii. The retreat features a state-of-the-art diagnostic center, yoga and fitness pavilions, a relaxing swimming pool and the culinary delight of Sensei by Nobu. Sensei Porcupine Creek is set to debut in November 2022.

LINE Hotel San Francisco - San Francisco, CA

  • LINE Hotel San Francisco will open on September 1. The 236-room hotel will be home to four distinct dining experiences including a landscaped rooftop solarium which will showcase panoramic views of the city. With conceptual design by world-renowned architectural firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) and Handel Architects, the 12-story Flat Iron-inspired building is a contemporary interpretation of the area’s historic architecture. The project also includes 242 residences and a dedicated space for the local non-profit theater company, Magic Theater.

Drift Santa Barbara - Santa Barbara, CA

  • Drift Santa Barbara from TCM Hospitality will arrive in Q4 of 2022 on Santa Barbara’s downtown State Street. The tech-driven, affordable, contemporary hotel is aimed at the millennial market, with contactless check-in and perks. Other Drift openings have been slated in San Jose del Cabo and Nashville.

Moxy Downtown Los Angeles - Los Angeles, CA

  • Reflecting the bold, adventurous spirit of California, Moxy Downtown Los Angeles will open in October 2022. Brought to life by an all-star team of top architecture and interior design firms, including Gensler, Yabu Pushelberg, and Basile Studio, the 380-room hotel channels the neighborhood’s forward-thinking energy and multicultural heritage, providing fun-hunting travelers with experiences around every corner: 13 restaurants, bars, and clubs; four outdoor terraces and a pool deck overlooking the LA skyline; and flexible, tech-centric spaces for coworking, meeting, and large social events. Floor-to-ceiling windows light up the smartly designed and affordable guestrooms, and a playful, cheeky attitude fuels the imagination.

The Jordan San Gabriel, Curio Collection by Hilton - Los Angeles, CA

  • Located across the street from San Gabriel Square Mall, The Jordan San Gabriel is just 11 miles from Downtown Los Angeles. Discover the third-floor oasis, beautifully landscaped outdoor space featuring a heated pool, hot tub, and fitness center. Escape to the Spa or celebrate special events in the Ballroom or rooftop banquet room overlooking the San Gabriel Mountains. Guests can enjoy lunch and dinner at Lou’s Place in the main lobby featuring a selection of lite fare and local favorites. Additionally, the Vine is an all-day dining restaurant that offers a beautiful banquet style space perfect for private functions.

Wildhaven Yosemite - Yosemite, CA 

  • Wildhaven, a Sonoma mainstay for glamping experiences, will expand to a second location just outside of Mariposa with brand-new under-canvas options opening in fall of 2022. Wildhaven Yosemite will begin with 40 glamping tents and limited recreational services in 2022, followed by an additional 40 tents in 2023-2024, right near the town of Mariposa.
