Canyons Resort in Park City Introduces New Mountain Adventure Experiences

Not only has Canyons Resort zoomed onto the national scene as a compelling ski destination, but the resort was just honored with a first-ever Top 10 North American ski resort ranking from SKI Magazine.

New This Ski Season

• "Ultimate Mountain Experience” Program – New for this ski season, Canyons Resort is introducing, in conjunction with former U.S. Ski Team coach Phil McNichol, the most elite winter sports fantasy camp series ever created: The Ultimate Mountain Experience. This collection of winter sports adventures consists of signature fantasy camps and customizable winter sports programs led by world-class athletes including six former Olympians. Athletes will guide fantasy camp weekends in January and March 2013, and one-of-a-kind itineraries may include Erik Schlopy’s “Power Turn Experience”, Holly Flanders’ “Women-Only Workshops” and Phil McNichol’s “Discover Your Potential Weekend.” In addition to these signature experiences, all athletes in the Ultimate Mountain Experience are available for customizable 1- to 3-day experiences.

• NEW Programs at Waldorf Astoria Park City (the marquee hotel at Canyons Resort)

• Powder Ice Lounge – Sip some bubbly and see and be seen at this new nightlife hot spot. The Powder Ice Lounge is a 14-foot bar made of carved ice adorned with sculpted ice furniture. Cozy fur blankets will be available. Serves champagne by the bottle, glass and flights. Price starts at $45 per person which includes live entertainment and passed hors d’oeuvres. Open from 6 p.m. until close.

• Tableside, Made-to-Order Hot Chocolate Program – Slopes by Talisker, the hotel’s fine dining restaurant, is introducing a hot chocolate bar for Winter 2012/13 that features gourmet hot chocolate served tableside and made-to-order using a traditional molinillo, which is a Mexican hand carved wood whisk, and the finest Valrhona chocolate. Guests can customize their gourmet hot chocolate with spice infusions such as cardamom, anise, cinnamon and crème de menthe. Price is $10

• Majordomo Travel Package – The hotel’s Majordomo Package nods to the time-honored European tradition of the majordomo, or head butler of a large estate, and ensures guests’ needs and preferences are fulfilled while offering exclusive add-on adventures and experiences only available through the package. The Majordomo Package starts at $869 per night in a one-bedroom residence and features experiences including:

• Private Ice-Skating & Speedskating Lessons with a U.S. National Speedskating Team Member – As Park City is a training ground for winter Olympians, Waldorf Astoria Park City is introducing an exclusive speedskating experience where guests can enjoy a private ice skating lesson and learn how to speed skate with Patrick Meek, a member of the U.S. National Speedskating Team and an Olympic hopeful. This private ice / speed skating experience is $120 per person

• Custom-Made Ski Stylist Experience – Define your own Park City chic style with a personal stylist at the flagship store of the ultra-luxurious ski and clothing shop, Cole Sport. Personal Ski Stylist Lynne Henry will work with you to create a personalized look that suits your lifestyle. Try the latest fashions from world-renowned alpine designer collections or the latest ski/snowboard gear to look your best on the slopes and at après ski. There is no additional cost for the custom-made ski stylist experience

• "Be Your Own Chef Menu” of Globally-Inspired In-Room Dinners – Executive Chef, Clement Gelas, is introducing a “Be Your Own Chef Menu” where guests can cook gourmet meals in their in-room chef’s kitchen outfitted with state-of-the-art Viking appliances. Perfect for family dinners or cozy evenings in, menus are inspired by different regions of the world and include a Mexican family feast with Oaxacan chopped salad and pulled achiote pork, an Italian meal with fresh house-made pasta and Rosemary lamb shank, and a French Savoy-inspired fondue for two with choice of sweet or savory. Chef provides prepped ingredients with instructions, and guests do a little cooking to finish the dishes in-room. Prices range from $32 to $65; serves up to 4 people.
