Cape Town's Table Bay Hotel Celebrates 15 Year Anniversary
It has weathered the past 15 years graciously, and has helped usher in an unprecedented wave of tourism and accolades, not only for its heart, the Cape Town waterfront, but also its soul, the country of South Africa.

The Table Bay hotel was opened in May 1997 by South Africa's President Nelson Mandela. In his speech, President Mandela described the Table Bay hotel as a “major asset to South Africa's national tourism infrastructure.”

Mandela turned out to be correct. Within 18 months of opening, the hotel gained membership into the prestigious Leading Hotels of the World, perfectly positioning it as a luxurious port-of-call for modern travelers. Since its opening, the Table Bay hotel has received a plethora of accolades for its service, accommodation, and cuisine. It's annually featured in the Conde Nast Traveler “Readers Choice Awards” as well as other prestigious national and international publications.

The Table Bay hotel has been the preferred hotel of choice for heads of state, dignitaries, royalty and celebrities. Barack Obama first stayed at The Table Bay hotel as a Senator from Illinois, while Charlize Theron, Céline Dion, Sean Connery, Robert De Niro, Madeleine Albright, and Snoop Dogg have all called the award-winning Table Bay hotel home while visiting Cape Town. Last year, the hotel had the honor of hosting First Lady Michelle Obama during her first official visit to South Africa.

The Table Bay hotel is located on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and embodies all the tradition, grace and elegance befitting a five-star property while still maintaining its own unique nautical character. The hotel provides an ideal setting for both business and pleasure.
