Greater Palm Springs has long been a destination synonymous with mid-century modern design and architecture, with numerous ways for visitors and locals to experience and enjoy this celebrated design style all year round. Most notable, during the annual Modernism Week festival - celebrating its 20th anniversary this February.
From February 13-23, this exciting 11-day festival is a celebration of mid-century modern architecture, art, interior design, and vintage culture within the Greater Palm Springs area. New for 2025, a PS Iconic Home Tour will feature two houses - the Griffing and Goldberg residences - that showcase diverse and interesting architectural styles. Also newly on display, participants can check out the 1923 Spanish Revival King Gillette Estate tour, a special tour by author James Schnepf through seven houses in five neighborhoods all from architects featured in his book, Palm Springs Modern Living, and more.
Throughout the festival, Modernism Week will showcase many festive special events and parties, including a night of vintage glamour at the Modernism Week 20th Anniversary Opening Night Extravaganza at the Palm Springs Air Museum. Guests will be dazzled by a show featuring Sinatra's smooth crooning, The Beatles' infectious energy, and Elvis's rock-and-roll swagger. Other highlights of the festival include the Modern Garden Tour, a range of engaging architectural tours aboard open-air, double-decker buses, walking and biking excursions, tours of the historic Annenberg Estate at Sunnylands, and so much more. Attendees may also enjoy retro-themed parties and captivating talks by world-class speakers, providing a perfect blend of education and entertainment for enthusiasts of architecture and design.
