Channel Your Inner Picasso with Art Therapy at The Alpina Gstaad
This summer, The Alpina Gstaad is inviting guests to channel their inner Picassos through a De-stress with Art program. In July, a Stress-Free Living Workshop with Toby McGuire will teach them to alleviate anxiety through meditation, yoga and fitness.

According to a Drexel University study, creating art can significantly reduce stress-related hormones in the body. This is the inspiration behind The Alpina Gstaad's De-stress with Art program led by the talented French artist Monique Bornstein. Combining her two passions, Monique has spent more than 30 years traveling the world painting watercolors of top jazz musicians in concert. Sensitive and generous, Monique will communicate her joy of painting to her "students" at the hotel. The four night, three-day program includes daily two-hour painting lessons and optional group classes on two days; a private tour of the hotel's art collection, plus yoga, Tai-Chi and meditation sessions, massages, Kundalini back treatment and Biorhythms. Cost of the three-day workshop is CHF4100 (or about US$4,285) per person, double occupancy and includes four nights in a Deluxe Room Schönried and daily breakfast.

And when not painting, guests will enjoy viewing The Alpina Gstaad's stunning contemporary art collection. Works by some 30 artists including Richard Aldrich, Dan Colen, Tracey Emin, Jana Euler, Terence Koh, Roy Nachum, Henrik Olesen, General Idea and The Bruce High Quality Foundation line the walls of the public rooms.

From July 3 to 7, The Alpina Gstaad will offer a three-day Stress-Free Living Workshop with visiting practitioner Toby Maguire whose expertise offers highly effective pathways towards clarity, health and holistic well-being. The program includes a daily workshop (Managing Stress, Life Management, and Healthy Body, Healthy Mind), morning yoga and Tai Chi, tea breaks and two relaxing spa treatments per day such as: massages, Biorhythms, flotation therapy and a 90-minute Absolute Wellness with Crystals therapy. In the afternoon, guests can take a walk, run or go to the gym. The day's program ends with a 60-minute mediation session. The price, including four nights in a Deluxe Room Schönried, all workshop sessions and spa treatments as outlined above, daily breakfast and tea breaks, starts at CHF3700 (or about US$3,868) per person, double occupancy.

Toby Maguire founded Working in Balance after leaving a stressful career in London and spending 13 years in Thailand on meditation retreats with Buddhist monks and studying Asian philosophy and Chinese medicine. He has been awarded diplomas in hypnotherapy and nutrition and is certified in Thai massage, Korean acupuncture and Reiki. Toby has worked successfully with Olympic gold medalists, premier league football players and members of England's rugby team.
