Cheli & Peacock Offers A Unique New Safari: Savannah, Quads & Camels
“Savannah, Quads & Camels” itinerary promises to offer you an authentic African experience from the Maasai Mara to a sky island, with an innovative take on transportation.

The route goes through the Maasai Mara, the Northern Frontier District and Mathews Mountain Range. From day one the trip will take you back to basics and make you feel the pure essence of the African Bush. The trip starts at Elephant Pepper Camp, one of the few camps in Kenya that has been awarded a "Gold Level" Eco Rating, complete with a traditional bucket shower.

Take on a quad bike excursion with spectacular scenery up the Kipsing Lugga's dry riverbed and spot specialized dry land animals. Your guide will lead the way. From the arid lands of the Samburu, add a unique touch to your safari by camel trekking the borders of the Ngeng River and exploring the nearby forest. The elevated view from the bobbing, friendly face of your camel is matched with a change of pace. You will have time on your schedule for relaxing picnics with beautiful backdrops after each excursion.

The tour also encourages you to explore by foot, guided by indigenous Samburu and Ndorobo warriors at the only camp in the isolated *sky island, Kitich Camp. As home to elephant, leopard, black panthers, buffalo and ancient cycads, the mountain range offers a unique forest wildlife experience. (Because of its “sky island” status, many of these species are endemic.)

Adventure to be part of this unique experience: swim in natural rock pools, learn traditional ways of tracking wildlife and enjoy the essence of Africa with nothing but the sights and sounds of the pure wilderness.

“Savannah, Quads & Camels” 14-day itinerary is $12,440 per person sharing. This includes all meals and accommodation. The featured properties for this expedition are Elephant Pepper Camp, Sasaab lodge, Kitich Camp, Sarara Fly Camp, Sarara Camp and House of Waine.

*Sky islands are mountains isolated by surrounding lowlands of a dramatically different environment. A key element is that they are quite a distance from other mountain ranges, resulting in a habitat island.
