Clayoquot Wilderness Resort Offers 1st Annual Wilderness Wine, Music & Adventure Weekend
Surrounded by glacial mountains and lush rain forest, Clayoquot Wilderness Resort is located in British Columbia's fragile Clayoquot Sound UNESCO World Biosphere reserve, right at the mouth of the Bedwell River, approximately 40 minutes outside of Tofino, BC. An all inclusive eco-resort open annually from June to September, it offers three, four and seven night packages

Rates for the culinary and musical adventure – Thursday, June 6 to Sunday June 9, 2013 – are based on double occupancy and start at $4,750 Cdn for a deluxe tent and $6,050 Cdn for the recently added en-suite tents. This includes return floatplane flights from Vancouver International Airport (approx. 1.hr) or water taxi pick up at the docks in downtown Tofino (approx. 40 minutes), welcome reception, wine and food pairings with presentations from the wine makers and the resort's Executive Chef Ryan Orr, as well as tasting notes from Sommelier Tereza Roux, and performances from Jim Cuddy and the resort's own house band.

Partial proceeds from the launch weekend will go to support the remote beach clean up efforts due to the floating debris caused by the 2011 Japanese tsunami that the resort is doing this year along side the Ahousaht First Nations and Atleo Air, a locally owned seaplane and helicopter operator.

A Canadian Tourism Commission Signature Experience, Clayoquot Wilderness Resort has helped define the experience of ‘glamping', camping deep in the Canadian wilderness yet offering all the creature comforts like warm, soft beds in romantic large white canvas tents, antique furniture, hot showers, gourmet dining, an unbeatable wine cellar, spa treatments and a wide array of outdoor experiences that showcase the spectacular scenery deep in the heart of a west coast rainforest and on the edge of the ocean.

“Every year we end the season with a sold out weekend for families and this year we decide to launch our season with an incredible weekend that truly showcases the best experiences the resort has to offer,” says John Caton, managing director of Clayoquot Wilderness Resort. “Thanks to our owner, Rick Genovese, our focus has always been on eco-luxury – with fine wine and fantastic food to greet you after a day of exploring. For this culinary adventure we have added in amazing music with our co-hosts Terry and Jim, as well as the opportunity to meet and learn from new world and old world wine makers, both of whom were chosen by our food and beverage team.”

All of the resort's activities including deep sea salmon fishing, horseback riding, hiking, whale watching, bear watching, kayaking both flat water and swift water, archery, shooting, stand-up-paddle boarding, and a one hour spa treatment per person in the resort's Healing Grounds Spa are also included in the three-night, four day experience.

“During the day, we will be creating some surprises for our guests so that they don't have to interrupt their outdoor activities to enjoy the food and wine pairings – like picnics on remote beaches. And at night we will be entertaining in our gorgeous dining room and, if weather permits, around our outdoor fireplaces surrounded by our remote wilderness rainforest which truly is remarkable,” says Caton.
