Owned by award winning 'Elizabeth' and 'The Lakes' producer Charlie Pattinson and wife Teddie, and once a family home built by Charlie's Grandfather in 1908, the exquisite 7 bedroom country house has 8 acres of gardens and woodland, with panoramic lake views.

With steep winding drive, via a pond and a field of daffodils, driving up to The Gossel Ridding perched at the top of a hill with breathtaking views over Lake Windermere, never fails to sweep visitors away. Beautifully renovated to perfection, a fantastic contrast of b & b Italia furniture works in harmony with the ornate carvings and highlights the joys of both contemporary design and the magnificence of the house in all of its splendour.

Whether you want to swim in the lake or enjoy an in-house spa treatment, walk the fells or take in the view from the rotating b&b Italia ottoman in the Adam room whilst being serenaded by a concert pianist, eat in the grand dining room or cosy up in the kitchen or cinema room, Gossel Ridding is the perfect luxury country retreat.

Enjoy fish and chips on the terrace or gourmet meals with your own private chef, picnic by the lake or at one of the nearby Michelin star restaurants. THE HOUSE

Reception Rooms
There are four main reception rooms in the house.

The Billiard Room is the largest reception room in the house. It has a magnificent fireplace, seating for 12, views of the lake and a Bose hi-fi system. The Adam Room is a more formal room with a Grand Piano tuned to concert standard that loves to be played. Our concierge can arrange for a pianist to come and play for either a romantic night in, for dinner or a small party.
The Dining Room seats 12 people around the main table and a further four around the Indian daybed. It can be arrange for a chef to cook sumptuous meals for the entire stay or for special evenings or lunches.

The Cinema Room is a great place to chill out. The specially made day bed is the perfect place to snooze, watch TV or a DVD from the extensive DVD library.

The Kitchen is a huge space, fully equipped with everything you could need to prepare a sumptuous meal or to have one prepared for you by one of the Gossel Riddings chefs. For less formal eating it seats 14 around the original cook’s tables in front of the log fire. The newly laid Lakeland slate floor has under-floor heating to warm your toes on a winter’s morning.

The Bedrooms There are 5 double bedrooms, 1 twin room and 1 single bedroom in the house as well as 2 Z Beds[1]. All of the bedrooms have their own character – from the grand curved bedroom with magnificent views over the lake whose walls are lined with fine French linen, to the Swedish style single room with white painted floors and furniture. Four of the bedrooms are en-suite. All have views over the lake, fells or woodland. All have luxury Hypnos beds, The White Company bed linen and gowns.

Bathrooms The bathrooms all have natural stone floors with under floor heating. Each bathroom is individual – from the double shower and limestone bath to the Lakeland slate wet room. All bathrooms are supplied with L’Occitane bath products.

Work Should you need to work The Study is a peaceful haven with wireless internet, printer, scanner and fax.

Garden
Enjoy sunset drinks or make woodland dens in the extensive grounds. Whether covered in snow, daffodils or sunshine Gossel Ridding’s informal mixture of terraces, lawns, natural woodland and meadows are the perfect place to relax or party.
