Coppola's Palazzo Margherita Recognized as Top New Hotel

Here Travel + Leisure recognizes the 50 most inventive and inspiring new hotels and resorts that are transforming the travel landscape. To develop the list, T+L editors review a comprehensive database of hotels, and then send out reporters and editors to put the properties to the test. Additionally, the resort has been included within Condé Nast Traveller UK's highly prestigious Hot List 2012. This annual list comprises the 60 best new hotels in the world. Hotels are selected for inclusion by Conde Nast Traveller UK after months of research, starting with hundreds of suggestions which are submitted by its correspondents across the globe.

Opened in March 2012, Palazzo Margherita has been acclaimed as a unique, intimate resort that offers guests a luxurious yet authentically Italian experience. Located in the charming town of Bernalda in the Basilicata region of Southern Italy, the Palazzo is a 19th century villa imaginatively restored by acclaimed French designer Jacques Grange and the Coppola family. The resort has seven large suites and two garden rooms, featuring fresco ceilings, palatial bathrooms and meticulously restored tilework, alongside state of the art technology, authentic Italian cooking and all modern amenities. An expansive courtyard garden and swimming pool add to the feeling of the Palazzo as a magical, timeless retreat.

Previously honored by Travel + Leisure, Coppola Resorts' Blancaneaux Lodge in Belize was named “Best Resort in Central + South America” in 2009 and 2010 with Turtle Inn in Belize also appearing on the list in 2010. Both properties were again named to Travel + Leisure's “500 World's Best Hotels” in 2011 with Blancaneaux Lodge ranking first in the Mexico and Central and South America category. Along with Palazzo Margherita and the two Belizean resorts, Coppola properties include Jardin Escondido in Argentina and La Lancha in Guatemala.
