Kasiiya Papagayo, an eco-wilderness retreat overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Costa Rica, will reopen with two new tented suites, a 6-night explorer package and Jungle Schoolcation for kids. The ultra-chic rustic hideaway offers 7 luxurious air-conditioned tented suites dotted throughout the bio-diverse jungle for an intimate Central American safari experience. Costa Rica is open to U.S. travelers and does not require a quarantine period or proof of a negative Covid-19 test.
Set on more than 123 sprawling acres of tropical dry forest, Kasiiya Papagayo represents the vision of a zero-impact wilderness retreat come to life by renowned architecture firm AW². Each structure throughout the property is environmentally friendly constructed solely from natural materials, resting on timber platforms, while the flora has been meticulously preserved to leave no trace of disturbance on the surrounding landscape. Beyond the build, Kasiiya is 100% solar powered, the water is drawn fresh from an on-site well and all vehicles used on property are electric.
Kasiiya’s accommodations include five suites overlooking the beach with two more suites perched on the hillside with expansive ocean and jungle views. The spacious suites offer a perfect balance between comfort and wilderness and include a king size bed, lounge space, closet, bathroom with an indoor- outdoor shower, as well as a private terrace with lounge chairs. The grounds include a beach cabana, sunset deck, library, spa cabin and a three-level fitness platform where guests can participate in yoga, meditation, and movement exercises inspired from Capoeira martial art. Meals at Kasiiya are enjoyed at the restaurant overlooking the beach or at the hilltop Chefs Table featuring local and international menus with organic and locally sourced ingredients.

Explore Costa Rica in 6 days: Kasiiya Papagayo will offer a 6-night explorer package with 3 private guided day trips to discover the beauty of Costa Rica as a one stop destination. Guests will be assigned a personal driver, car, and guide for the duration of their stay, to experience the rainforest, the Tenorio river, wildlife, Arenal volcanos, hot springs, and culture. Rates start from $7060 for two.
Jungle Schoolcation: Kasiiya will also offer a secluded classroom in the jungle with remote learning amenities in Kasiiya’s outdoor library, tutors and guides for parents interested in enriching their child's home/school life or requiring extra help to support their child’s online learning. Children receive professional support with their online studies from a fully qualified on-site tutor who will ensure they are on-track with their schooling. Afternoons are spent exploring the jungle on walks with professional guides to learn about the diverse nature that surrounds. Meanwhile parents can choose to work remotely with the capability of high-speed Wifi or, enjoy some time experiencing Kasiiya, safe in the knowledge their child's education is continuing as it should. The Jungle Schoolcation is complimentary for stays of two weeks or more.
Kasiiya offers a multitude of complementary wellness and soft adventure activities to reconnect with nature including daily guided treks and wildlife observation, water activities, zip lining through the canopy or relaxing on one of two private beaches. Private off property excursions can be arranged for horseback riding, ATV tours, sailing, surfing, deep sea fishing, sunset catamaran sails and more. Seasonal wildlife observation opportunities for December include, Black and Leatherback Sea Turtle nesting and hatching season, Humpback whale migrating from Alaska and California to give birth in warmer water, and migration bird watching along the Guanacaste coast.
Translating to "find your pace" in Swahili, Kasiiya is designed to restore guests and the planet by harmonizing wellness and preservation of the untouched natural oasis. Costa Rica is open to U.S. travelers and does not require a quarantine period or proof of a negative Covid-19 test. The remote sanctuary accommodates a maximum occupancy of 21 guests (14 adults and 7 children) for the perfect eco-escape with ultimate seclusion and an abundance of nature and outdoor space, while just a 40-minute drive from Liberia International Airport or 20-minute boat ride from Coco beach.
Rates begin at $975 per night based on double occupancy and one child under 11, inclusive of all meals, a personal buggy and driver for each tent used exclusively by the guests for the duration of their stay. Additional fee of $150 per night for each additional child under the age of 16. The daily rate for a buyout stars at $7,880 USD plus tax with a minimum stay between 3-5 nights depending on the season. Private transfer from Liberia airport are included for reservations of 4+ nights.
Getting to Costa Rica
US Travelers to Costa Rica must provide proof of a medical insurance policy to cover any COVID-19 related medical treatment or quarantine lodging while in Costa Rica and complete an online Health Pass 48 hours prior to travel to Costa Rica. Kasiiya's enhanced ‘health, safety and environment protocol’ gives more control, kindness, and empathy to guests. All staff will be tested upon arrival and of the 40 staff, 32 will live on property for 3 weeks without leaving the property to avoid community spread and outside contact. The additional 8 staff who work on the technical operations such as the solar powered system, do not have contact with guests, their rooms, or common areas of the property. The design of Kasiiya insists on the feeling of freedom - having a minimum of walls and doors. Additional initiatives include: sanitation stations available throughout the property, increased frequency of cleaning and sanitizing public areas with Ecolab™ EPA certified products each hour; Any equipment or supplies that arrives at the property goes into a custom-made box with a UV light for at least 20 minutes to sterilize; Touchless check-in and disinfection of luggage upon arrival at Kasiiya using Ecolab-certified products, passed under UV light and left in the porch of your suite. Strict protocol for sanitizing the suites includes the following technologies: full disinfectant using foggers and ozonators as well as a UV light kit for high-touch areas and objects (such as fan controls); The same housekeeping staff will be assigned to your suite for the entirety of your stay and guests will advise on the frequency of housekeeping services; The entire fleet of vehicles and electric buggies will be disinfected after each use, using electrostatic sprayers with Ecolab™ certified products. Our SUV will also be disinfected in the same way before and after guests board; Kasiiya’s spa is a single open tent in the jungle, open on all sides. The space is designed for bespoke comfort, benefitting from the cool breeze and through-ventilation whilst fully immersed in the surrounding nature.
