Step Behind the Curtain: Discover The Green Room, a Sophisticated Cocktail Lounge at The Upper House

Long whispered among friends of The Upper House, Hong Kong, The Green Room now draws back the curtain to welcome all with the launch of Moonlight, a weekly after-hours escape with music mixes and culinary creations inspired by the intimate backstage lounges where artists and performers gather, The Green Room cultivates magnetic encounters through expertly crafted cocktails that appear deceptively simple yet reveal remarkable complexity.

The expanded cocktail menu reflects Bar Manager Gail Lanorias’ distinctive philosophy of ‘complex but not complicated,’ featuring layered, seasonal flavors built on intentional craftsmanship rather than theatrical spectacle. The botanical Golden Child features Spanish Nordes Gin with sage, bay and lemon verbena, elevated by house-made rosemary syrup and a bright splash of pineapple juice.

Southern Belle reimagines the classic iced tea as a sophisticated ‘grown-up apple-tea-ni,’ combining Avallen Calvados with tart green apple notes, honey, and champagne. Star Crossed Lovers offers an inventive interpretation of beloved local desserts, harmoniously blending vodka, red bean, and yuzu, crowned with a delicate matcha soy foam that balances citrus brightness with gentle sweetness.

Adorned by high-gloss racing green lacquer and striking Pevla stone – evoking the abstract landscapes of Wes Anderson’s cinematic universe – The Green Room radiates an effortless sophistication charged with vibrant energy. Positioned as the perfect pivot between dinner and nightlife, it serves equally well as an evening’s beginning or its nightcap. Each week, Moonlight transforms the space with curated DJ sets and unexpected pleasures, featuring Mono x Moonlight bar bites, guest mixologists from the region’s most celebrated establishments, and captivating drag performances. Guests can look forward to the next Moonlight collaborations with Asia’s 50 Best Bar No.21 Bar Us on 11 July, and No. 14 Hope & Sesame on 18 July.
