In 2004, visionaries, Alex and Carrie Vik set out with the goal of making one of the world’s best red wines. After a 2-year scientific search they found the best terroir in South America’s Millahue Valley, part of the Cachapoal Valley. Alex and Carrie later embarked on an architectural competition, which ultimately led to the selection of Pritzker Prize candidate Chilean architect Smiljan Radic as the principal architect and designer for the winery. Set amongst the mountains and sweeping valleys with the soaring Andes mountains in the distance, the winery features an unprecedented design, which is at once state-of-the-art, highly sustainable, and a spectacular visual display. Thoughtfully designed to have minimal impact on the landscape, the winery prioritizes natural viticultural and winemaking processes to efficiently optimize natural resources. The winery’s world-renowned family of wines includes VIK, Milla Cala, La Piu Belle, and La Piu Belle Rosé. Each of the wines is truly unique and has shown continued improvement with the release of each vintage, pointing to the incomparable nature, unique biodiversity, complexity of the terroir and exceptional viniculture.
Working in tandem with VIK Winery is Vik Chile, the avant-garde retreat, and Puro Vik, the newest concept retreat. Designed by Alex and Carrie in collaboration with Marcelo Daglio, Vik Chile has 22-rooms and is strategically positioned to offer 360-degree views across the 11,000-acre property. The visually stunning retreat features pioneering design and an extensive collection of artworks by Chilean and international artists, many of which were created specifically for the retreat.
