‘Downton Abbey’ Cruises a Big Hit Says European Waterways
The themed cruises along the Royal River Thames on the Magna Carta are nearly sold out, with just a single cabin remaining on the May 29 and August 21 departures.

Cruises include a tour of Highclere Castle, the real-life setting for the much-loved period TV drama and iconic home of the fictional Crawley family on the show. Rates are $4,000 per person for the May 29 departure and $5,250 for August 21, all based on double occupancy.

The rates for Magna Carta's 6-night “Downton Abbey” cruises include all meals, wines, an open bar, daily escorted excursions, local transfers and admissions. The itinerary also features tours of Windsor Castle and Hampton Court Palace, as well as other riverside landmarks that have starred in TV and films, such as Dorney Court from “The Other Boleyn Girl” and Cliveden House in Buckinghamshire, the setting for “Scandal.”

“Tickets to these attractions are always in high demand, so we secure them months in advance,” notes Derek Banks, managing director of European Waterways. “It's an amazing experience to see the actual settings for dramas like ‘Downton Abbey' and makes watching them an even richer experience.”
