BMW Art Car by David Hockney - On display in The Lobby, October 14 – November 3

In celebration of London’s autumn art season, The Peninsula London is honored to exhibit a true masterpiece of automotive and artistic collaboration: the BMW Art Car by David Hockney.

Originally unveiled in 1995, Hockney’s transformation of the BMW 850CSi explores the very soul of the machine. The contours of a driver and internal engine components are painted playfully across the vehicle’s surface in an evocative, expressive palette of greens, greys and whites. “Driving and design go hand in hand,” Hockney mused, “Traveling in a car means experiencing landscapes – which is one reason I chose green.”

The iconic BMW Art Car collection celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025 with a world tour of the rolling sculptures.
