The Dude Ranchers’ Association (DRA), the nation’s longest-running agritourism organization, celebrates its 100th anniversary on September 27, 2026, marking a century of preserving and promoting authentic Western hospitality and the original American vacation experience.
Founded in 1926, the DRA was created to unite ranchers, establish quality standards, and promote dude ranching as a unique and immersive travel experience. Today, the organization represents 91 accredited dude ranches across the American West, each committed to maintaining the traditions, landscapes, and lifestyle that define this historic industry.
“This centennial celebrates 100 years of stewardship,” said Executive Director Bryce Albright. “For generations, ranchers have welcomed guests and shared their way of life, introducing them to the land and the spirit of the West.”
Centennial Highlights (2026) To celebrate 100 years, the DRA has hosted and supported a range of commemorative projects and events throughout the year, including:
Centennial Book 100 Years of Dude Ranching — A photo-driven coffee table book created in conjunction with the Ranch Preservation Foundation featuring 26 historic and modern ranches, with photography by Scott T. Baxter and writing by historian Lynn Downey. Documentary Film Call of the West — A Wyoming PBS documentary exploring the history and future of dude ranching and the families who sustain it. Museum Exhibit The Wrangle — A photography exhibit featuring the work of Scott T. Baxter at the Dude Ranch Museum in Cody, Wyoming, running through October 6th when Call of the West will be screened at the Cody Theatre.
Arizona Dude Ranch Giveaway Stay For two days only, September 27 and 28, people will be able to enter a giveaway for an all-inclusive 3-night stay for 2 people to any Arizona ranch in the True Ranch Collection. There will only be 48 hours to enter, and the winner will choose which ranch they want to visit. We will draw the winner on September 29th. Vacation can be redeemed in either 2026 or 2027. The commemorative 100 Years of Dude Ranching book will also be included.
