TUNGKU BATU (HEATED STONE THERAPY)
Healing with stones is an ancient form of therapy long practiced as an addition to a massage in the Malay and Orang Asli culture. It is a traditional therapy for women in birth confinement and for men to enhance agility. Massaging the body using heated stones helps hasten the elimination of toxins, alleviate joint pains, loosen tense muscles and break down excess fats. Offered at Spa Village Cameron Highlands, the emerald landscapes of Malaysia’s highlands foster a tranquil ambience for ultimate rest and relaxation. Every guest enjoys a signature tea bath before their treatment, a heavenly soak formulated to gently cleanse, nourish and soften the skin.
PERANAKAN SIGNATURE EXPERIENCE
The Peranakan Signature Experience at The Majestic Malacca includes a series of special body treatments packaged to reflect the therapies and treatments of the individual healing traditions found in the region. Based on Peranakan healing philosophy, this therapy is moulded around a person's cool or warm energies, designed to recapture energy which is hindered by life’s challenges. Warming treatments include a Malacca Palm-Sugar and Honey Body Scrub, Nutmeg-Rice Rolling Massage, Pandan-Coconut Hair Mask and Bird’s Nest Facial with a Fermented Tapioca Mask. The Cooling treatment includes Yoghurt-Guava Leaves Body Scrub, Egg Rolling Body Therapy, Limau Kasturi-Yoghurt Hair Mask and Bird’s Nest Facial with a Star Fruit Mask - is which viewed as a great luxury in the traditional Peranakan Chinese culture. These treatments work together to help to remove joint pain, replenish the body’s vitamins and minerals, settle cramping and swelling, extract toxins and hydrate the body.
FREEDOM TREATMENT
One of the newest offerings at The Gainsborough Bath Spa is the Freedom treatment - one of the most unique treatments on offer, going beyond usual water therapy, to take guests on a transformative journey. The treatment was designed specifically for Spa Village Bath by Rafael Quiroz, who explored the emotional, spiritual, and physical effects of moving the body through water in a rhythmical flow, using sound healing to take it a step further. During this experience the body is fully supported by the water, allowing the musculoskeletal system to stretch and release, mobilising joints and muscles in a broader range of motion. Freedom is far more dynamic than most traditional water therapies, as the movements are strong, fluid and cadenced. The sound healing element includes bringing singing bowls into the water; creating vibrations which create a unique and powerful energy that helps to stimulate the body's natural healing processes and promote a sense of balance and harmony.
COUPLE SPA EXPERIENCE
A Signature treatment at Spa Village Tanjong Jara, is the half day Couples Spa Experience which includes a series of special body treatments based on ancient Malay traditions. Dandan Puteri Tujuh and Panji Alam are known as highly fitting royal treatments for warriors and princesses. The holistic treatments start with a traditional Malay massage or the Warrior massage, working to rejuvenate the body and soul. This is then followed by a hair cream bath - a ritual practised by royal princesses, or a herbal roots hair treatment, to protect the scalp and promote healthy hair growth. Couples can then enjoy a herbal scrub, made from galangal and ground turmeric, leaving a healthy radiance on the skin, and a fragrant milk bath to moisturise and uplift the spirit. Elements of beautifully scented steam are then introduced, leaving the body feeling fresh, fragrant and radiant. The final step of this unique couples treatment involves a Herbal Roots Tonic Drink which is brewed in an earthen pot, sweetened with exotic pure jungle honey to promote anti-ageing benefits.
CAMPUR-CAMPUR
Each treatment at the Spa Village Pangkor Laut will begin with a unique Bath House Ritual, representing various bathing traditions from around Asia. This starts with a soothing footbath and an invigorating Chinese Foot Pounding, previously only enjoyed by the concubines of feudal China. From there, guests will be escorted to the Bath Houses to enjoy the traditional Malay 'circulating' bath, and a Japanese-style cleansing with a 'goshi-goshi' cloth, followed by a dip in the heated Rotenburu pool. The professional spa staff will then give a gentle exfoliating wash with their signature Shanghai Scrub. In Shanghai, this is traditionally offered exclusively to males. After the scrub, guests will enjoy a cup of calming tea in the resort’s tranquil surroundings before beginning their spa treatment. The name Campur-Campur means a blending of varieties in Malay. Combining the best techniques of Malay and Thai massage, our special creation uses touch, tone and aromatherapy to give you a memorable experience. The scent of lemon grass and pandan leaves fills the air as steamed herbs are pressed along the body using a traditional steam pouch.
