Emily in Paris: Champagne vineyards from the series that you can cycle through in real life

From the increasingly outrageous outfits to questionable love life decisions, ‘Emily in Paris’ Season 2 has been at the center of many conversations since it dropped on Netflix a few weeks ago, with it being the perfect show for some light-hearted escapism.

But we’d be lying if we said that the American comedy-drama’s shots of French cityscapes and countryside hadn’t made us sigh ‘Ooh la la’ at least once with wanderlust.

And one of the most dreamy scenes? When Emily visited her friend Camille’s family Chateau in the Champagne region and, while there, took the opportunity to cycle through the region’s famous vineyards.

Thankfully, luxury active holiday provider Cycling for Softies has the ideal solution to fulfil this longing - a cycling tour through the Fizz region of France that will make you feel like you’ve been dropped straight into the hit Netflix series.

A Taste of Champagne’ is a leisurely and sophisticated experience that sees guests cycling along some of the most beautiful routes in Champagne, passing through beautiful countryside and numerous wine-making sites en route. You’ll enjoy sampling the finest local food and drink at the start and end of each day, and each night will be spent in a different hand-picked hotel.

Although being passed off as in Champagne, the actual chateau used as Camille’s family home in the series is situated in France’s Loire Valley. So if you’d rather visit the real-life location of the show, Château de Sonnay in Cravant-les-Côteaux, then Cycling for Softies also offer a range of tours available in this region.

Le Château de Sonnay has origins tracing back to the year 1268, and it currently operates as a winery, just as it does in the series.

The company is keen to point out though that the bucket hat is not the headgear recommended for this trip, despite now seemingly being fashionable again, and, spoiler alert, they’d strongly suggest not trying to open a bottle of bubbly with a sword...

When on a cycling tour of either Champagne or the Loire Valley, the locals are always more than happy to direct you if you take a wrong turn on your bike - especially to the nearest vineyard!

A Taste of Champagne is a self-guided cycling tour around areas of Champagne, lasting 3-5 nights and costing from £1,415 per person. More information can be found here
