Broadmoor founder Spencer Penrose built the road that leads to the top of Cheyenne Mountain as well as the camp’s original lodge. Influenced by the historic timber and stone lodges of the American West, Cloud Camp’s 8,500-square-foot main lodge is built on the same site as the original building, and features hand-hewn beams and indigenous stone fireplaces. Its walls are adorned in authentic memorabilia and epic Western-themed paintings. Its great room and bar area serve as the backdrop for relaxed yet inspired gatherings, and the long dining room table seats up to 32 guests. The lodge also boasts an expansive wrap-around deck where guests can gaze over the natural splendor of the forest and maybe even spot a rainbow lingering over the horizon.
 
While a guest at Cloud Camp, spend the day exploring the Pike National Forest on numerous hiking trails or with guided nature walks. In the evenings, gather around a camp fire and roast s’mores while recounting stories of the day’s adventures under the star-filled sky. Daytime and evening camp activities capture the spirit of all that this unique Colorado getaway has to offer.
 
Transportation to this Rocky Mountain retreat is an adventure in itself. Guests have the option of either a ride in a Cadillac Escalade, mule, or for the more adventurous, a rewarding  three-hour hike with an elevation gain of 2,000 feet, starting at The Will Roger's Shrine of the Sun to the camp’s location at the summit of Cheyenne Mountain.
