Escape to Zanzibar this Winter
Meliá Zanzibar is a luxury resort on the north-east coast, situated on a 300 meter beach with spectacular views over the Indian Ocean. The resort is surrounded by a natural coral reef, making swimming a stunning visual display, with ample snorkeling and diving spots.

With 124 rooms, ranging from private villas - complete with their own beautiful gardens and breath-taking infinity pools - to pavilions perched on the cliff side, guests can experience a taste of Tanzanian paradise. The hotel offers 5 restaurants and 4 bars, providing guests the opportunity to experience culinary delights from around the world. Guests can also relax in the Spa, complete with six private treatments rooms. Treatments include a Kilimanjaro Wrap, a Thai Herbal Steam and a Meridien Line Massage.

Zanzibar is full of celebrations, especially throughout their summer months. At the end of December, the Kizimkazi Cultural Music Festival takes place, housing artists, performers and volunteers on the beach, to welcome the New Year. During the middle of February, there is The Sauti za Busara music festival - a six-day cultural extravaganza. The festival offers an eclectic selection of traditional and modern music, accompanied with theatre, film, comedy and dance – an event not to miss out on in the African calendar.

Meliá Zanzibar is roughly 45 minutes from the international airport and the capital city Stone Town – a Unesco World Heritage site. Zanzibar, also known as “Spice Island”, is where the Tanzanian spices, such as cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg originate from. Having been influenced greatly by different cultures, namely African, British and Arabic, there are plenty of cathedrals, sultan's palaces, fortresses, old colonial houses and mosques to visit. Guests can get involved in some of the island’s popular activities, such as Spice Tours, Giant Tortoises at Prison Island, monkeys at Jozani Island and swimming with dolphins.

With lots happening over their summer months, partnered with great weather and gorgeous surroundings, Zanzibar is somewhere to escape to in order to avoid the cold climes.

Rooms at Meliá Zanzibar start at £221 per person, based on two people sharing with Bed and Breakfast.
