Rosewood Sand Hill, the ultra-luxury hotel located in Menlo Park, California has partnered with renowned winery Ridge Vineyards to offer wine-lovers an immersive VIP weekend getaway that includes private wine tastings, Michelin-starred cuisine and a walking tour of the picturesque vineyards. The highly exclusive package is available over three weekends in 2019: July 26 – 28 and September 20 – 22.
The experience begins on Friday evening, when guests settle into their deluxe accommodations with special welcome amenities including a Ridge Vineyards leather-bound notebook and hand-painted watercolor card of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The weekend kicks off with a special meet & greet with Paul Mekis, Wine Director at the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Madera. There he will guide guests through a wine tasting featuring samples from the various Santa Cruz Mountains wineries accompanied by seasonally-inspired hors d’oeuvres prepared by Madera’s expert culinary team.
The following morning guests awaken to a decadent breakfast at Madera featuring a taste of exclusive Laurent-Perrier Brut Cuvée Rosé. Afterwards, guests are transported to the picturesque Ridge Vineyards with its spectacular vistas over the Bay Area to enjoy a full day wine experience led by Paul Mekis. Using his industry expertise to provide unique insight into the winemaking process, Paul leads guests through a special tour of the beautiful property and guided tasting of five of the winery’s top bottles, as well as two pours of Ridge Vineyards’ rare Monte Bello wine. Following, guests enjoy down time to indulge in a picnic basket specially-prepared by Madera’s Executive Chef, Reylon Agustin, that includes delicacies such as Olli Salumi, beet hummus with za’atar spice, prosciutto sandwiches, dried fruit and nuts, locally-sourced honey, toasted naan bread, a sweet selection of bon-bons and a half bottle of Ridge Vineyards Zinfandel.
After returning to Rosewood Sand Hill, guests will have time to unwind before enjoying a seven-course meal at Michelin-starred Madera, prepared by Chef Reylon Agustin himself. Director of Wine Paul Mekis will curate course-specific wine pairings using a selection of older vintages from Ridge Vineyards.
