Cove Creek Farm - Monteagle
Cove Creek is a natural, sustainably run farm that uses rotational grazing to give animals a great living environment, which translates into great food. It is a great educational opportunity for school field trips and youth groups. In addition to Fall and Spring festivals, Cove Creek has fun indoor and outdoor activities for kids and families. They are open weekends from 10 am-6 pm CT.
Grundy County Arena - Tracy City
The Grundy County Saddle Club hosts a monthly sanctioned horse show from April to October. and other special events They recently added 10 water/electrical hookups for horse show participants or people hiking the Fiery Gizzard trail at South Cumberland State Park. The trailhead is adjacent to the arena. The 5-7-year plan is to have a covered ag arena, stalls, and a bath house.
Farm-to-Table, Sustainable & Agricultural Tourism Experiences at Andrew Jackson's Hermitage
Juneteenth Foodways is an educational opportunity at The Hermitage with a focus during June on those previously enslaved on the property, the food they would have eaten, and their contributions to cuisine up to today. The event will take place Saturday, June 15 at 10 a.m. This program will have a special lecture by Dr. Kelly Fanto Deetz, the celebrated author of Bound to the Fire: How Virginia’s Enslaved Cooks Helped Invent American Cuisine. Tickets start at $30 and include a vegetable from the garden and a recipe, courtesy of Edible Nashville.
