A scandi-inspired retreat on the picturesque Cornish cliff tops, Bedruthan Hotel & Spa continues to demonstrate why Cornwall is the perfect coastal setting for winter wellness, with a new calendar of transformative experiences launching in January 2024. From breathwork to craftwork, there’s something for every type of traveller to find peace by the beach next year.
For Building Resilience Following the success of 2023’s mental health retreats led by former professional rugby player Anthony Mullally, Bedruthan will host a series of intimate day workshops with Anthony in 2024 offering men and women the chance to learn breathing and mindfulness techniques in a unique coastal setting. The Resilience Breath Workshops will run on 03 February (male only) and 03 March (mixed gender) from 10am-3pm at Bedruthan, focusing on cold and heat exposure to educate participants on the therapeutic effects of breathwork.
For Holistic Wellness The Sensory Spa Garden experience at Bedruthan will take guests back to nature with a journey around the outdoor spa, a nourishing lunch from the new spa menu and access to the indoor thermal spa and pool. The journey begins with a dry oat scrub delicately blended with pink Himalayan salt to prepare the skin for treatment and enriched further by foraged plants from the hotel gardens. Stepping into the cedar wood sauna, the temperature rises to 80°C, offering a unique vantage point for wave-watching through a porthole. This is followed by a cold bucket drench and outdoor hot tub, a contrasting element that invigorates, boosts circulation, releases endorphins, and tightens the skin. The journey concludes around the warmth of a fire pit, feet dipped into a warm copper tub, with a blanket over shoulders, and sipping on hot herbal tea.
For a Romantic Break As they say, couples that spa together, stay together, and Bedruthan offers an affordable one night Winter Escape that is the ideal opportunity to unwind amidst the breathtaking coastal landscape. The winter package starts from just GBP179 and promises a soothing retreat, including a two-course dinner, artisan bakery breakfast and time to unwind in the Atlantic-view spa. Guests can also while away the winter blues in the spa with 20 percent off any pre-booked spa experiences (Sensory Spa Garden or Hammam).
For Something Special Whilst Bedruthan’s sister hotel, the Scarlet Hotel, is closed for renovations in January and February, fans of the adult only hotel need not despair. Bedruthan has announced two temporary ‘Taste of Scarlet’ packages offering a combination of seaside luxury and spa serenity. Both offers promise a two-night break with a four-course tasting menu by Scarlet x Ogo at Bedruthan on one evening and use of Bedruthan spa facilities: sea-view hydropool, sauna, steam room and caldarium. The second offers the addition of a Scarlet inspired Ayurvedic Spa Journey. Both breaks are available on select dates in January and a day spa option is also available, offering guests a 15-minute Ayurvedic consultation, therapist-led scrub, 5-minute meditation, and bespoke treatment.
For Family Bonding For those looking to learn new skills, Bedruthan’s on site craft space, Create Cornwall, promise quality family time with crafting workshops such as wire flower making and lino printing available. For younger guests, there's a toddler crafting session with paints and brushes and children over six can get inspired by the changing seasons with macramé leaf workshops and the chance to learn knotting techniques. The workshops aim to encourage creativity in all ages and result in a handmade creation for guests to treasure at home.
The promise of health is delivered at the Bedruthan’s on site restaurants too. Expect a daily changing menu of seasonal cuisine at Ogo at Bedruthan, where Head Chef George Richardson has unveiled a menu of colourful creations, including dishes such as Citrus-cured sea trout taco featuring house-fermented hot sauce and cucumber and Steamed Cornish brill, delicately paired with champagne, mussels, and sea herbs.
