Fly Private to the Best Oktoberfest Celebrations

From coast to coast and border to border, celebrations in cities nationwide honor Bavarian culture every fall. Oktoberfest festivals all over feature traditional food, music and beverages of the German state of Bavaria. While the main Oktoberfest in Munich takes place Sept. 21 – Oct. 6 this year, there are plenty of celebrations stateside to enjoy.

“Flying private to events, like an Oktoberfest, has attractive benefits, especially if traveling with a group,” said Eric Wells, president of Private Jets, Inc. “A private charter can typically land closer to the event, reducing your time driving from busy airports to remote locations. Some of our planes seat up to nine people which reduces the cost of the charter per individual when splitting it.”

According to MATADOR Network, the United States is filled with unique Oktoberfest celebrations. Wells said you can book a charter to attend several or one festival on its list of the 10 best Oktoberfest celebrations in the US worth traveling to.

Helen, Georgia’s, festival came in at number two on the list and it’s also an ideal place to travel privately. The small town of approximately 570 people has one of the oldest Oktoberfest celebrations in the country that takes place this year Thursdays through Sundays from Sept. 26 – Oct. 27. The town looks similar to a traditional German village, making it a perfect place to visit for the occasion. The closet international airports are positioned approximately 100 miles away in either Atlanta or Knoxville, Tennessee. A private flight can land 20 miles away from the festival at Habersham County Airport.

The Linde Oktoberfest in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Oct. 17 – 20 is number four on the list. In addition to the traditional fare and beer, it offers dachshund races and a competition where participants carry 35 pounds of beer across an obstacle course. Wells said while Tulsa is home to Tulsa International Airport, there are advantages to flying private into cities like it.

“Travel to many international airports often require travelers to stop over at one or more airports before arriving at their destinations, which can drastically cut into travel time,” said Wells. “Traveling on a private charter gives you back the time you would have spent in airports on long layovers, as well as standing in security lines.”

Well-known cities with festivals that top the list include San Francisco, Denver and Addison, Texas, within the Dallas-Fort Worth area. All three celebrations begin between Sept. 19 – Sept 22. Wells said if you want to visit all three, chartering a private flight to tour the cities is the best way to hit multiple cities in one weekend without spending hours in major airports.
